As far as I know, the Starlink Mini takes voltages on the barrel plug from 12 volts up, and higher voltage supplies will require less current. Sounds like it has a decent buck converter in there. I have a mini and I use the included PS and cable, so I don't worry about that much.
So here is a cable going from USB-C to a barrel connector, and I do not see any evidence of a power conversion electronic package. What the ... ?!
Okay, again I am a novice with USB power delivery. My meager understanding is that USB starts at 5 volts limited to 500mA, and if the two devices communicate, they can negotiate different voltages and currents. Please excuse my baby talk here, as I am trying to use terms that anyone can follow. PD experts can roast me at will, but please inform.
So my question is how a USB-C connector and some wire can supply a two-conductor barrel plug that expects a much higher voltage, without some USB-PD interface?
If this cable has such ability, then it it probably a great deal for those who bought a mini dish and does not want to use the supplied power supply, but does have a high power USB PD device to devote to the dish.
