I don't 100% remember the fix, but it was something like this. See if they have an app and install it.
Go to the home screen, instead of Android Auto, hit the home button on the unit, then pick something different, like Screen Mirroring. If you didn't find the app earlier, it will show a QR code to download their app. Then in the app menus it will then prompt you to apply an update. Once I updated, the unit has been solid.
These are similar fixes.

This wireless CarPlay and Android Auto screen is best at adding a quick touchscreen and backup camera to older cars, with fast phone connection and generally solid day to day use. Mounting options include suction cup or adhesive, and the backup camera can trigger instantly in reverse. The main caveats are recurring disconnects or restarts on some units, plus a camera image that can look blurry, stretched, or hard to see in bright sun. Firmware updates and support have helped some units stabilize, making it a practical upgrade if you can live with the camera and screen quirks.
Owners who are comfortable updating firmware when wireless connection glitches appear, because restart and dropout issues can be fixed with a software patch or app update.
Drivers upgrading an older car who want wireless phone mirroring and a quick backup-camera view, because the screen can connect in under a minute and show reverse video instantly.
People who want a simple add-on display without replacing the factory stereo, because it can mount on the dash or windshield and route audio through AUX, Bluetooth, or FM transmission.
Drivers who need a backup camera for basic reversing help, because the camera can be wired without running the cable all the way to the rear and still works immediately in reverse.
Drivers who need a rock-solid wireless connection for daily use, because the unit can randomly restart or disconnect every few minutes.
People who want a sharp, wide backup-camera image, because the camera can look blurry, stretched, and too zoomed in to see much.
Cars parked in hot, sunny spots, because the screen can glare badly and the adhesive mount can let go after long direct sun exposure.
Drivers who need a very rigid mount, because the screen can shake on rough roads and some mount setups can work loose or fall out.

Just ensure that the dash doesnt get too hot from the summer sun and you will be fine.
The unit has been great but. I wish it had auto dimming. There can be a lot of glare during sunny days. At night, I can't get the screen to dim at a certain time.
The adhesive on the mount is strong but it will fall off if the ar is in direct sunlight for a long time.
