I don't 100% remember the fix, but it was something like this. See if they have an app and install it.
Go to the home screen, instead of Android Auto, hit the home button on the unit, then pick something different, like Screen Mirroring. If you didn't find the app earlier, it will show a QR code to download their app. Then in the app menus it will then prompt you to apply an update. Once I updated, the unit has been solid.
These are similar fixes.

This wireless CarPlay and Android Auto screen is mainly valued for adding a touchscreen and backup camera to older cars without replacing the stereo. The mounting options include suction cup or adhesive, and the unit can also connect through Bluetooth, AUX, or an FM transmitter. CarPlay and phone syncing are described as smooth when the device is behaving, and firmware updates or app based patches have fixed restart and disconnect problems for some setups. The backup camera is the weakest part, with limited visibility and poor alignment called out. A dependable fit if you want a simple retrofit and can tolerate some setup quirks.
Firmware updates can address restarting or disconnecting issues and can make the unit run solid afterward.
Customer support can replace failed mounts or replacement units can work reliably within the warranty period.
The CarPlay and Android Auto syncing can work quickly after power-on, including auto-connecting to an iPhone within seconds.
The audio options can include AUX in/out, Bluetooth, and an FM transmitter for sending phone audio to the car radio.
The backup camera cable can be hidden instead of fully routed to the back of the car.
The unit can randomly restart every few minutes or disconnect about every ten minutes during use.
The screen can shake depending on mount stability, especially when using suction or adhesive placements.
The backup camera can be difficult to see clearly, making it feel pretty useless for reversing.
The screen can lag or stutter because it can be resource-hungry during operation.
