I don't 100% remember the fix, but it was something like this. See if they have an app and install it.
Go to the home screen, instead of Android Auto, hit the home button on the unit, then pick something different, like Screen Mirroring. If you didn't find the app earlier, it will show a QR code to download their app. Then in the app menus it will then prompt you to apply an update. Once I updated, the unit has been solid.
These are similar fixes.

This wireless CarPlay and Android Auto screen is best for adding a touchscreen and backup camera to an older car without replacing the stereo. Setup is straightforward, and the unit can connect quickly, auto connect to a phone, and work well for daily driving. Audio can run through AUX, Bluetooth, FM broadcasting, or a tape adapter, and the backup camera can trigger instantly in reverse. The main caveats are mount reliability, glare in sun, and reports of random restarts, disconnects, or lag that may require a firmware or app update. A practical retrofit if you want modern phone integration with some tinkering.
Drivers of older cars wanting wireless phone mirroring, because it adds CarPlay or Android Auto without replacing the factory stereo.
Commuters who want automatic phone connection, because the unit can connect within seconds when the car starts.
Owners who need a backup camera for reversing, because the camera activates instantly when you shift into reverse.
Drivers who can use a wired audio path, because AUX, Bluetooth, and FM transmitter options let the sound route through different setups.
People relying on flawless wireless connectivity, because the unit can randomly restart or disconnect during use.
Drivers who want a sharp, wide backup image, because the camera can look blurry, stretched, or too narrow to see much.
Drivers who need a rock-solid dashboard mount in hot weather, because the adhesive and suction mounts can loosen or fall off in direct sunlight.
People who expect plug-and-play audio, because the sound path can produce static or require workarounds to get clear audio.

Just ensure that the dash doesnt get too hot from the summer sun and you will be fine.
The unit has been great but. I wish it had auto dimming. There can be a lot of glare during sunny days. At night, I can't get the screen to dim at a certain time.
The adhesive on the mount is strong but it will fall off if the ar is in direct sunlight for a long time.
It seems like the 8% off at checkout is applying. I was able to get the code working by refreshing the checkout page a few times after applying it.
If you use the rear camera, add a stainless steel license plate bracket for a few bucks more to get the best view possible.
No drilling is necessary for a very solid installation.

I see this one falls short in those areas.
Install was fairly simple, it's nice they provide everything needed.
However I turned my car on, the device turned on but was having issues with the sound. like a static noise or almost a dial up noise lol.
I didn't even attempt any firmware or update on it. I didn't want to fight with it.
I was lucky enough to already have a usb/aux Bluetooth module that was bel to just stream sound from device to Bluetooth bypassing the aux jack sound. And it's clear now.
