This wireless CarPlay and Android Auto screen is best for adding a touchscreen and backup camera to an older car without replacing the stereo. Setup is straightforward, and the unit can connect quickly, auto connect to a phone, and work well for daily driving. Audio can run through AUX, Bluetooth, FM broadcasting, or a tape adapter, and the backup camera can trigger instantly in reverse. The main caveats are mount reliability, glare in sun, and reports of random restarts, disconnects, or lag that may require a firmware or app update. A practical retrofit if you want modern phone integration with some tinkering.

  • The device can connect to a phone quickly and start CarPlay or Android Auto use within about a minute.

  • The unit offers multiple audio output paths, including FM broadcasting and AUX output for older stereos.

  • Firmware or app-based updates can resolve restarting or disconnecting behavior on some models.

  • The backup camera can play instantly when shifting into reverse on compatible setups.

  • Promo codes may not apply consistently, including cases where discounts fail in the Amazon app or only apply partially.

  • The mount adhesive and suction cup can fail in summer heat and cause the screen to fall off.

  • The backup camera image can look blurry, stretched, or glare heavily in sunny conditions.

  • The screen can lag, stutter, or feel resource-hungry during normal use.

i have a similar one from this seller one for my Camry. i got this last march or so. In eight months, the display unit would not connect to my phone.. i messaged the seller with a templated text from chatgpt and the seller shipped me a new unit as it was in the 1 year warranty period. The new unit has stay put ever since and its going to be a year now and its running fine.

Just ensure that the dash doesnt get too hot from the summer sun and you will be fine.

Not gonna lie, thought crossed my mind, but I never use the cd player anyways so yolo lol. This is the one I got. It worked fine in my 07 Dodge Grand Caravan and in my 2014 Corolla. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C3ZK...in_title_2
Same one I tried in my Mini. I can't even imagine it working with a tablet the size of the one in the picture...

I have couple questions for those who own this or similar model:
  • How long does it take for this device to boot and connect to your phone (via CarPlay) when you start the car?
  • While the device still booting up, will I able to see the backup camera video when shift car to reverse? Or do I have to wait until it completely booted?
Takes a little less than a minute to connect to phone. The backup camera video works instantly when you go into reverse. Just fyi the camera video is a little blurry and not widescreen, but stretched. I wish it was more widescreen.

The unit has been great but. I wish it had auto dimming. There can be a lot of glare during sunny days. At night, I can't get the screen to dim at a certain time.

The adhesive on the mount is strong but it will fall off if the ar is in direct sunlight for a long time.

Did you try updating the firmware? I bought a different model and they had a note in the box to update the firmware if Android auto drops out frequently. I followed that advice and never had any drops in my 2 months of use. I am interested in this model because it has camera and wider screen.
Not all models can be updated. And there is no fw update available for all models. It has happened to me and when it does, its done. Don't expect lifetime support <100 dollar item. Dont even expect support for one year. As long as the amazon return period is available, you are good. And maybe its not the device. Google does something to android auto and its a break down. the fix may come may not

It seems like the 8% off at checkout is applying. I was able to get the code working by refreshing the checkout page a few times after applying it.
Refreshing the check out once did the trick for me.

Drilling is probably required or it's keep coming off right? Also what wiring is needed. Fuse tap? Audio feeds through aux?Anyone have experience with this?
Use the mount that attaches to the cowl of the instrument panel. Buy 3M VHB (very high bond) automotive tape to secure it. Use a heat gun to mold the base of the mount to follow the contour of the spot on your cowl that you will use. Replace you cigar lighter with dedicated 5V USB port if you don't have one. Use AUX into your stereo head unit if you can. Tuck the wires into the gaps in the panel to keep them looking neat.

If you use the rear camera, add a stainless steel license plate bracket for a few bucks more to get the best view possible.

No drilling is necessary for a very solid installation.

Ok, dumb question. Where is the output of anything you are playing through this screen ? How would I get the sound to play out of the car speakers, or am I stuck have the audio come out of the rear speakers in the screen?

It has an FM broadcaster so you just tune to a channel that you program, an aux cable out if you have an aux in, but if you are on an older car, it can go to a tape adapter for your tape deck

Usually there are 4 options. A 3.5mm cord to wire into your stereo. An FM transmitter. A bluetooth transmitter. And finally a small speaker on the unit.

Anyone have recommendation for a different brand unit that has a better backup camera, auto dimming screen? A higher price point is fine but better quality. but such devices cannot be flaky when driving.

I see this one falls short in those areas.

Saw this yesterday, received it today morning.

Install was fairly simple, it's nice they provide everything needed.

However I turned my car on, the device turned on but was having issues with the sound. like a static noise or almost a dial up noise lol.

I didn't even attempt any firmware or update on it. I didn't want to fight with it.

I was lucky enough to already have a usb/aux Bluetooth module that was bel to just stream sound from device to Bluetooth bypassing the aux jack sound. And it's clear now.
