Out of curiosity, does anyone have long term experience with these battery packs on how long they typically last for? If basic research is to be believed, its around 3-5 years, but wondering how true that is vs real world experience.

I'm tempted to pick this up for the batteries alone and return the free tools at pro-rated amounts, but wondering if I should just wait until I need to replace older Bosch 2ah and 1.5ah batteries that start to age out in calendar years.

My 1.5A batteries from 17 years ago work just fine.

That is highly dependent on how often you charge them (number of charge cycles), how you store them (temperature & charge state), what tools you use them with (how much current the tools draw), etc. I've not had issues with Lithium rechargeable packs for tools from the major brands and have some that are about 20 years old. I haven't been into the Bosch 18V packs that long, so I can't speak specifically to them though.
