This Bosch 18 volt two pack centers on the 6 amp hour batteries and the bonus tool bundle, with the added tools making the offer stronger than it first appears. The bundle is also described as including a charger, which matters for anyone already in the Bosch 18 volt system. The bonus tool lineup is useful but not especially exciting for every setup, and some of the options are already owned. Battery life looks solid overall, with older Bosch packs still working after many years, making this a practical upgrade if the included tools fit your needs.

Common Questions (4)

  • These lithium tool batteries can last many years, with examples of 10+ years and even 17-year-old 1.5Ah packs still working. Lifespan depends on charge cycles, storage temperature, charge state, and how hard the tools draw current.

    DarnCrazyniczontwikkenStereodude

  • The bundle includes the two 6Ah batteries and two free tools, and the listed model also includes a charger. That makes it more than just a battery-only purchase.

  • Yes, it mainly makes sense for people already in the Bosch 18V system, since the pack is for Bosch 18V batteries and the value is strongest if you can use the batteries and charger right away. If you already own most of the bonus-tool options, the remaining choices may be less compelling.

    BraveTest551mgeoffriauStereodude

  • Yes, the Lowe's BOGO return policy prorates the discount across the items, so returning the bonus tools can leave the batteries and charger at a much lower effective price. One suggested approach is buying two 7-1/4 circular saws and returning them, which was estimated to get the batteries for about $90 pre-tax.

No charger in this bundle, just the two 6Ah packs, so it only pays off for people already on Bosch's 18V system.

LOL, same, I looked through the list and I've already got 75% of it. Not sure if if the remaining tools make it worth pulling the trigger on this, but I might.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have long term experience with these battery packs on how long they typically last for? If basic research is to be believed, its around 3-5 years, but wondering how true that is vs real world experience.

I'm tempted to pick this up for the batteries alone and return the free tools at pro-rated amounts, but wondering if I should just wait until I need to replace older Bosch 2ah and 1.5ah batteries that start to age out in calendar years.

My 1.5A batteries from 17 years ago work just fine.

That is highly dependent on how often you charge them (number of charge cycles), how you store them (temperature & charge state), what tools you use them with (how much current the tools draw), etc. I've not had issues with Lithium rechargeable packs for tools from the major brands and have some that are about 20 years old. I haven't been into the Bosch 18V packs that long, so I can't speak specifically to them though.

There's a few I wouldn't mind having, but I don't need them. The deal is pretty good though.

Thanks for the info! I'll jump and see how easy it is to return the tools and keep the batteries at a discount.

Note: If you just want the batteries and charger, you can purchase 2x of the 7 1/4 circular saws and return them to get the batteries for roughly $90 pre-tax. Lowe's will prorate the difference of each item, but if you buy the circular saws, that will give you the lowest prorated price on the batteries.

From: https://www.lowes.com/l/help/returns-policy
Can I return an item that was part of a Buy One, Get One (BOGO) promotion?
If you purchased items as part of a BOGO promotion, the purchase discount will be prorated to each item proportionately. If you choose to return any of the items, your refund will be equivalent to the prorated amount.
