The PS4 Pro and Slim are still seen as strong value for the money, especially the 1TB models, with the Pro favored for smoother performance and better modding compatibility while the Slim gets credit for lower power, better Wi Fi, and faster USB ports. The PS4 library, cheap used discs, and Blu ray playback add a lot of entertainment value, and the Best Buy refurb setup is appealing because it ships and can be returned if there is a problem. Main caveats are that these units are listed in Good condition, stock varies by location, and the refurb may not include the original box or warranty. For storage, a 2.5 inch SATA SSD is an easy upgrade path.

  • Upgrading storage with a 2.5-inch SATA SSD can help improve performance after purchase.

  • A 1TB PS4 model can support modding approaches that aim to unlock a larger game library.

  • Buying from Best Buy can reduce risk because the console ships and can be returned if problems appear.

  • A refurbished PS4 Slim around $100 can deliver strong entertainment value with a large disc-based game library.

  • The refurbished units are listed as 'Good' condition and availability can vary by location.

  • Geek Squad refurb firmware may not be jailbreakable yet, and units may arrive on lower firmware without per-unit testing.

  • PS4 compatibility with an existing PS3 game library can be limited, which may reduce playable titles.

  • The refurbished console may not include the original box or warranty coverage.

Whoever wants to mod this, my recommendation would be towards getting the Pro, way more compatibility with patches to improve your experience.

It looks like PS5 console prices are creating a demand for older consoles. I have played with my PS4 pro 2TB with two controllers for a while now. Might fire it up.

Pro is about double the performance. But many games don't use it well.

Pro is faster and less slow down in fast paced games.

So either save money with the slim (better Wifi, faster USB ports, and less power than full size PS4) or get PS4 Pro for smoother performance and some games with better details.
I would skip the full size PS4.

Get the cheapest one and upgrade to SSD. This is the way.

Any 2.5" SATA SSD works.

This can be had for nearly half the price if you keep and eye out on marketplace. But some prefer the convenience of clicking the buy button and it coming to them.
