The refurbished PS4 lineup stands out as a low cost way to get into Sony's huge game library, especially the 1TB models that feel like the sweet spot for storage and value. The PS4 Slim and Pro are also attractive because used discs are cheap, the system still looks good enough for most games, and it doubles as a Blu ray player. Buying through Best Buy adds shipped delivery and returns if something is wrong. The main cautions are that these units are only listed in Good condition, stock varies by location, and the cheapest model may feel slow without an SSD.
Collectors chasing a mod-friendly console, because it can be modded to unlock the full game library.
The 1TB model is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it costs only about $20 more than the 500GB version while doubling storage. The Slim is also favored when storage prices are high, and it still gives access to a large game library.
PS4s can reportedly be modded with GoldHen, but the method depends on the console's firmware and older models use different versions. The latest firmware is not jailbreakable yet, so lower-firmware units are the ones that matter most.
Best Buy's refurb is attractive because it can be shipped and returned if there's a problem, which lowers the risk versus buying locally. The listing is also in Good condition, so stock and condition can vary by location.
The PS4 Slim offers a large game library, cheap used discs, and enough performance for most games, plus it doubles as a Blu-ray player. A working refurbished unit can provide hundreds of hours of entertainment for around $100.
Great console. Sony really turned things around with the PS4. Great library, good price. It might be Sony's best or second best console after the PS2. One other thing that made this generation stand out was how much was remastered from the PS2 and PS3 era. With the PS3, unless you got the earlier, expensive backwards compatible models (I had one and got the notorious YLOD), you were often stuck never being able to play PS2 era games unless you had a PS2. PS4 generation really upped the remaster catalog making it almost pointless to have backwards compatibility or an old PS2/PS3 lying around for a lot of people. The only game that I wanted that I remember not being able to play was MGS4. I only regret I didn't play more when I was able to really enjoy playing guilt free more often.
Thanks, OP. Just bought the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB, and came out to $102 (after using $5 GC I had lying around). Been wanting my own system for a while, as kids won't share the PS5.

I almost agree. But the PSX will always be king to me.Along with Wipeout 2097
Nice! Ive been wanting a PS4 for awhile and have casually browsed marketplace and such. But the convenience of just getting one shipped and being able to return if there is a problem is a huge pro versus rolling the dice.

Genuinely a great deal if you want to get into games and not spend a lot, maybe tough out the next three years of insane prices. Hundreds of games available under $10 even, and possible to crack if you want to pirate I guess. it's not even dead yet - new games are still coming, though a lot less. It's even a good Blu-ray player and streaming box too.
