At the "Choose your new plan" dialog choose the option "Continue with plus" but be sure to choose the $8 monthly plan. That cancels your annual plan and issues a refund. It also bills you $8 for the month. Then cancel your X Subscription monthly plan and you're done--they do not claw back your refund of the annual plan. Good luck!
