Does he talk about his affairs and his ditching his children and how he hated trekkies when doing TNG? I don't get how people cannot understand that these ACTORS are not their characters. A lot of these people are horrible people but their characters are amazing... all written by really good writers... In short , don't meet your "heroes!"
Smart people don't idolize celebrities.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Actually yes, he talks about all these there, in some detail: it's where a lot of this info comes from. But you also judge him by his worse moments, rather than what happened after:

- Affairs: yes, and repentant for it.
- Children: "ditched" is inaccurate, but he did prioritize work over them, leading to permanent rifts.
- On Trekkies: actually the evidence points otherwise, and he has also routinely expressed a love of Trek and its fans. The first season on TNG itself he was a bit of a stiff diva nightmare, but he loosened up over time. (Just ask his cast mates.)

So yes, he was flawed. Every person is. And I agree with not meeting your heroes. (I have and found them all to be... all too human.) But he was repentant, which can't be said for everyone. And he does talk about it here.

Blatant exaggerations aside, do you talk about his philanthropy (namely domestic violence and animal rescue), vocal support for inclusivity (if you're cool with that), being a general master of his craft, etc? I don't get how people cannot separate the good in people from their worst moments in life. In short, the guy's human, made mistakes, and still far better than most people out there.

No, but he talked about that time that he, Shatner, and Nimoy took your mom back to the telly during Comicon.

Only useful comment in the thread so far 👍

We need "Deal Editors" back to fix these shortcomings. 13TU popular without this basic info is problematic. I assume that SD Labor has been restructured into shilling

Boy it must be nice to live life not having made any substantial mistakes at all. What does that feel like? ... yes, don't meet your heroes. And you should add something about not throwing stones at glass houses in with that philosophy of yours.

To answer your question - yes, he addresses the first two. The third - I haven't heard too much about that.
