This 14 inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16GB of memory, and 1TB storage is being called a strong value at $1,349.99, especially versus Apple's $1,999 price and the newly launched M6 model. The deal also stands out for free shipping, Costco's 90 day computer return window, a second year of warranty, and a two per member limit. The main hesitation is the 16GB memory, which may feel tight for heavier multitasking, Office and Teams, or future proofing. It looks best for general use and buyers who want Pro features without paying full retail.
Mac buyers replacing an aging 8GB or 16GB machine who want 1TB storage, because the extra memory and storage feel sufficient for everyday use.
Office workers and spreadsheet-heavy multitaskers who need a portable machine with ports and a better screen, because the fan helps avoid throttling during heavier workloads.
Developers or analysts running data-heavy apps on a laptop, because 16GB has been enough for data analytics, app design, and large Excel files for years.
Shoppers comparing current MacBook pricing, because this configuration undercuts Apple's price by a wide margin and includes a second year of warranty.
Power users who want lots of headroom for future multitasking, because 16GB can feel lean and may slow down later.
People planning to run local large language models on the laptop, because 16GB is far below the memory those workloads need.
Heavy Microsoft Office and Teams users, because that workload can crunch memory and perform poorly.
Owners of a well-specced older machine who only need a battery refresh, because a battery swap may be cheaper and performance gains may be modest.

Looking to get a new Macbook but not sure which one I need (Macbook Pro w/ 16GB ram or would having Macbook Air w/ 24GB ram be better, etc).

Do you value the nicer screen/ports of the Pro? The Air is fanless if you prefer that and aren't doing heavy calculations/encoding etc.... If you are doing those then the fan is nice to have so it doesn't throttle.

For comparison, the 13" MacBook Air with an M5 processor and 1TB storage upgrade currently retails for $1600; the 14" MacBook Pro with the newly released M6 processor (comes with 1TB storage) retails for $2000.
