The Xbox Series X all digital is the stronger pick for players who want the full Series X performance without a disc drive, and the current price is described as about 20 percent off the usual $749. It still supports digital libraries and can fit a second setup like a vacation home, while the all digital design keeps the console simple. The main drawback is the missing disc drive, which makes disc to digital use impossible, and the expansion drives are called expensive. Coupon stacking also appears unreliable because Xbox hardware exclusions have shown up in fine print.

Common Questions (4)

  • The current price is about 20% off a normal $749 price, but it is still far above older deals like a disc Series X with a bundled game for $350 or a 1TB unit bought for $499 at launch. The main tradeoff is that this model has no disc drive, so it only makes sense if you specifically want an all-digital console.

  • It has no disc drive, so physical discs cannot be used directly on this model. If you already own the disc version, you can still use Disc to Digital on that console and play those games on this unit at another location.

  • Xbox hardware coupons may be excluded in the fine print, and a 5% birthday coupon did not discount Xbox hardware. A veterans 10-20% Target coupon reportedly worked on the console before, but that is not guaranteed.

  • The Series S at $379 is the cheaper option, while this Series X All-Digital offers the higher-end Series X hardware but without a disc drive. If you do not need the extra performance or 1TB Series X storage, the Series S is the lower-cost choice.

Shame they discontinued the 2tb model. Also those expansion drives are expensive and they may not work on the new xbox project helix. Dev mode is pretty cool but they currently locked it at 5gb ram which limits it. edit: the veterans 10-20% coupon is nearly here for Target and it worked on the console last time i tried and it also stacked with the wedding/baby registry but YMMV.
I believe the new coupons now exclude xbox hardware in the fine print. I tested with my 5% bday coupon and it didn't discount Xbox hardware. Then I read the fine print and they added Xbox hardware exclusion.

I thought prices would go higher because of demand for GTA 6, so I bought with 3 months in anticipation, should have waited...
You didn't think there would be deals on Xbox near/on Black Friday after the recent price hike?

edit2: last discount i pre-ordered gta6 for $61 and 2 days later they said it would be a code in the case.
Thank you! I had forgotten about the target Veteran discount!

That's baller. No need to buy 2 of the same system for the same house.
But now, in retrospect, he made a good investment, since buying one now without a disc drive costs almost as much as he paid for 2 with a disc drive. Probably also got several years of game pass for $100. I bought 2 during that time, and sold one because it didn't have a game. Kept the one with diablo IV.

I got mine from walmart online for $340 in Dec. 2023. I wouldn't pay $600 for one that's for sure. I also prefer to move away from microslop anything.

Wow I knew prices of certain computer related products went up but damn this cost more than the Series X did at launch lol.

I got this on Dec 17, 2020. So, one month after launch.

Tempting. I have the disk version at home, which means I can do Disc to Digital and still play those games on this unit at a vacation home

Plus a controller? Is it a big deal for a 6 year old console to come with a controller? What a crazy world where this pricing is the new normal. My halo edition disc model was $550 years ago.
