Lenovo's Legion Tab Gen 5 is a compact Android gaming tablet with a sharp 8.8 inch 3K 165Hz display, strong Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 performance, and solid pen support. The included G9 case and lighter body make it feel more like a convertible gaming tablet, and the newer chip and Adreno 840 graphics are framed as a meaningful step up for emulation and Android games. The main knocks are the lack of OLED, no memory card slot, and concerns about Lenovo's update history. At $598.49, it still feels pricey, with some waiting for a drop closer to $500.
Common Questions (5)
OS upgrades are reported to stop at Android 17, and security updates are expected to end in about three and a half years. That is a shorter support window than many shoppers want for a $600 Android tablet.
At $598.49, several comments still consider it expensive and say it would draw more interest under $500. The price has also fluctuated sharply over the last month, so some shoppers are waiting to see whether it drops again.
It is positioned as a gaming tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Adreno 840 GPU, and strong support for Android gaming plus console and PC emulation. The higher-end chip is also described as faster and more power efficient than the previous Portal 3-class option.
Yes. It includes a microSD card slot for expandable storage, despite some confusion in the thread. That makes it easier to add game and media storage beyond the built-in 256GB.

if this drops to 500$ black friday, id get it. mainly cause i can use droideck
I'll wait until black friday to see if Redmagic has discounts.
Edit: Some of these comments saying get an iPad don't seem to understand what this device is. This is a gaming tablet and is ideal for console and PC emulation in addition to Android gaming. It's one area where Apple just can't compete.
Better than the elite gen 6 extreme as well when using the same wattage. Not to mention better upscaling and rt.
A20 pro is on a different level compared to this chip

But I am not sure if it will get cheaper... we can only hope. While demand in the USA is small... world demand is very high.

I am also on Apple ecosystem, but iPadOS has many more limitations regarding how you can use the tablet like sideloading apps and JIT without workarounds, even custom firmwares, which is the main idea of the Lenovo (and other Android ones) tablets if aiming emulations.
