You're actually not supposed to use pumpkin in pumpkin pie. Use butternut squash instead.

I have a 8 pound can of pumpkin puree. Never got around to using or opening it. It expired in 2023 should I toss it or still useable in recipes? Mainly want to use it in brownies or cake recipes or ice cream recipes eventually

It might be OK, but pumpkin doesn't seem to last as long as other canned stuff. You'll find out when you open it.

I would not toss it (unless you open it and it looks/smells bad, of course). I bet it's perfectly fine.

GV condensed milk is also $1/can right now also, and GV deep dish frozen pie crusts is also on sale - forget the price but I think around $1.80
edit: looked it up and it's $1.36 for the pair of pie crusts.
