Anbernic is so weird; they make Switch looking device that doesn't do Switch, they make the RG Vita can't handle Vita...its like the design team and marketing have never met. That being said, the 55G1 is supposed to be super solid. Just don't expect Switch and you should be happy.

I remember that also being the case with the RG505 looking like the Switch Lite, but unable to do Switch emulation; and the RG Arc-S / Arc-D that looked like a SEGA Saturn controller, but couldn't handle Saturn emulation.

Then on the flip-side, they'll give us devices like the RG 353PS / 353P, RG34XX, RG SP and RG DS Plus that almost 1:1 mimic their original Nintendo designs and play the consoles they look like they're supposed to play 😆

Yep, it's really not a bad device, particularly when it's down around this price, and you compare it to the Mangmi Air X, the traditional king of the $80-$110 16:9 handheld segment. The G1 Gen 2 in the RG 55G1 can actually pull off a decent amount of PS2, something the Mangmi's SD662 can't do without serious compromises. With GC and Xbox, there are plenty of titles that should run at full speed on the 55G1, but stutter on the Air X. That doesn't make the Air X bad of course, as it's like $80-$85 on this sale!

The problem was with the launch prices. $150 for the 4GB, and $175 for the 8GB model was a joke when the much better RP5 is frequently in that range. The RP5 can be had for under $150 on this 11/11 sale. (I got one for $129!)

Anbernic, as usual, has adjusted their prices to what the market is willing to pay, just like with the confusing RG Vita and Vita Pro launch. They don't make bad handhelds, they just often sell them at bad prices, before dropping those prices within months. Heck, even the RG DDS can be purchased for under $250 in this sale, ("MSRP $299")and it doesn't ship until December!

How did you get Retroid Pocket 5 for $129?
In the first 2 days of the 11/11 sale, The Retroid Pocket 5 was $162.52 for the black model. With the $25 off $139 coupon, and $20 off $139 PayPal discount, I was able to get it down to $117.52, and with state tax, ($11.69) it was $129.21 shipped. I honestly couldn't believe it. I initially screwed up the order when I didn't apply the proper coupon so it was $140 OTD, but I reordered with a different new account to get the $129 price, then cancelled the first order.

That deal was gone possibly in the first day of the sale. You usually have to jump on these deep discounts at the start of big AE sales, otherwise coupon redemptions and PayPal promotions run out, or the the items sell out.
