Kirkland Signature grass fed butter is a salted, creamy butter that melts well and comes in at a strong warehouse price. The current version is labeled product of Ireland and has a milder salt level than Kerrygold, with a grassy, slightly cheesy flavor and a new package shape without tablespoon markings. The salt makes it less ideal for ghee or unsalted recipes, and it is not as bold as Kerrygold. A solid everyday butter if you want good texture and value.
Common Questions (4)
It is salted. That makes it less suitable for recipes that need precise salt control, and it is not ideal for making ghee if you want to avoid extra salt and waste.
It is less salty than Kerrygold but still creamy and melts very well. Kerrygold has the stronger flavor profile, while this one is often preferred for the price.
It can be used, but it is salted, so it is not the best choice if you want cleaner ghee with less salt and less waste. Unsalted butter is the better option for ghee.
The butter is now labeled Product of Ireland and is produced by Tirlán. It was previously New Zealand-sourced, and the packaging has also changed, including a different shape and no tablespoon markings.
