Great buggy. I got my son one and it has survived some horrendous crashes.

The brushed version has gone on sale for $140 multiple times. Anyone with experience with both if brushless is worth the extra money?

the speed from 20mph to 50 plus is huge, unless its for a young kid or u need to be brushed to race at events(stock class), there's no reason for brushed

Brushless motors are also more durable since there are no brushes and a commutator to wear out

Too bad it isn't 4S compatible like almost all other 1/8th scales.

I bought the brushed version a few years ago, the 14 tooth pinion gear it comes with is too fast and it overheats after a couple of minutes. I had to change it out to a 12 tooth. It was $8 including shipping and took me 5 minutes to switch, it comes with all the tools needed.

For the short time my kids play with something like this I'd go brushed. If you want to get into it yourself as an actual hobby then I'd buy the more expensive brushless.

We sold my son's Granite and got this and love it. It is way more durable and he is not a good driver lol. I'm rocking the Big Rock.

Wasn't this as low as $99 somewhere? I came across this in a SD post last year for brushless motors - someone posted a link that was much lower - but I think sold out. Was this the brushed version someone posted above?

Doesn't need to be. Do you want a 1/8 buggy that goes 65+ MPH? No. No, you don't.
