This is an extremely niche lens (stereoscopic) --- and compared to other Canon stereoscopic lenses, this is the least good of the bunch. It's also the cheapest, so temper one's expectations accordingly.
You'll need to have the Canon R7, at a specific firmware level to use this lens successfully -- or another Canon R-mount camera. APS-C ideally -- or you'll be getting a roughly 1080p image out of your expensive full-frame 45mp Canon R5, given all the crop-factoring and dual-image splitting going on.
And you'll need a LOT of patience. You will be doing a lot of editing on this footage. And I mean, A LOT. ALOTTA.
Pretty much every stereoscopic video creator right now is terrifically inexperienced -- it's a new-ish medium type. And it's not easily accessible to everyone, unless they have the extremely expensive Apple Vision Pro (the "pro" means it's professional! 🤡 )
You know, that bulky set of white "THREE-D"/augmented reality goggles Apple sells with the cumbersome battery pack and long cord? The one with like two dozen people buying them since release? Yeah that's the one.
And canon's editing software requires a monthly/yearly subscription if you want videos longer than 2mins. Yeah, that'll add up REALLY fast...just for the privilege of working on your own files. No buy-once option.
Now if you've had an interest in this...well, here you go. Otherwise, this probably isn't for you.
(Apparently, you might be able to use these on other "Three-D" headsets -- but these lenses + software were made specifically in conjunction with a partnership with Apple. Any other compatibility is merely coincidental.)
