This Delsey two piece polycarbonate set stands out as a rare sub 100 dollar Costco luggage deal, with a lighter build and a style that some prefer. The carry on size may run larger than standard airline limits, though the extra room could help packing and airport sizers often allow a little buffer. The main cautions are durability concerns, including reports of wheels breaking, and the fact that this price appears tied to select clearance stock. A solid value if the size and long term wear fit your needs.

Common Questions (5)

  • The $99.97 price likely reflects an outgoing model on clearance at select stores. There are also multiple similarly priced Delsey 2-piece sets, so the exact item and store matter.

    ss115891CosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstant

  • Traveler's Choice is presented as the better value for about $10 more because it includes YKK zippers and, in one bundle, packing cubes. The Delsey set is lighter and may appeal more if lower weight and style matter.

    CosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstant

  • The carry-on piece is listed at 22.75 x 15 x 9.75 inches including handles and wheels, which exceeds the common U.S. 22 x 14 x 9 inch limit. Some airports allow about a 1-inch buffer, but it may still be too large for stricter airlines.

    gastr1cCosmologicalConstant

  • Yes. The thread identifies two separate $99 Delsey polycarbonate sets: item 1872217 in black and HELIUM EDGE 2.0 item 1872077 in dark gray. A different Delsey Rise 2-piece set is the $190 model and is not the same sale item.

    CosmologicalConstantCosmologicalConstant

  • The luggage can have wheel failures; one report says four Costco Delsey sets had wheels break off within months. Costco's return policy makes the purchase less risky if that happens.

Original price is meaningless. When shopping always think it terms of net price - what you actually pay. Is it an unbelievable price. Well, it is rare that you get Delsey branded 2 piece polycarbonate set at that price.

That said, after consideration of all the factors, I strongly believe the Traveler's Choice 2 piece luggage, for only $10 more, in the link below, also from COSTCO, is a substantially better deal. Yes, substantially better.

The carry-on advertised dimensions of 22.75 x 15 x 9.75 in (Includes Handles and Wheels) seem to exceed standard US airline dimensions of 22 x 14 x 9 inches.

Can't recall but it was somewhere between $149.99 and $189.99. Never at $99.99.

That said, I once again direct you to the better deal in the link below. It uses the highly-reputed YKK zippers and not the average/mediocre DELSEY branded zippers. The Delsey luggage is lighter if you value lower weight and style, over the better quality Traveler's Choice luggage in the link below.

Be aware that I've had four sets of Costco Delsey luggage and all four had the wheels break off within months of each other.

That said buying luggage from Costco is a smart move because you can always return it

Most carry on luggage exceed the 22 x 14 x 9 inches dimensions. Even the sizers at the airport have a 1" grace buffer on all sides which is why most luggage companies try to leverage the buffer.

Why do you think the most reputed Travelpro Maxlite 5 21" carry on has 23" height (with wheels)?

Heck, I'd be more inclined to buy this luggage because it is leveraging the buffer so you can pack more in the carry on.

That's a different model, but they all pretty much look the same. The one with $99.97 pricing likely is an outgoing model and is on clearance at select stores.

Note that there are two DELSEY 2 piece items on sale for $99, both of which are polycarbonate:

The one in this thread:

4.6/5 Rating, Costco Item 1872217, Black Color
https://www.costco.com/p/-/delsey...4000410348

There is a separate DELSEY HELIUM EDGE 2.0 also for $99 (with a 4.5/5 star rating); Dark Gray Color, Item 1872077 | Model 402882977CO
https://www.costco.com/p/-/delsey...4000359153

As I've mentioned 100 times before, the better quality luggage for only $10 more is the one in the link below.

I think you might be talking of the $190 one, that's NOT on sale in the link below.
https://www.costco.com/p/-/delsey...4201030618

For what it is worth, the design/style of the $190 one has vertical stripe molding while the two $99 sets have horizontal ones.
