This Midea counter depth French door fridge stands out for its roomy layout, dual ice maker, and a design that keeps the water and ice dispensers outside the main compartment. The exterior dispenser setup is described as more hygienic and less prone to mold or buildup, though it can be awkward to clean and the water dispenser requires opening the door. The biggest cautions are temperature consistency and long term reliability, with reports of units running warm or failing near the warranty period. The handleless doors also make opening it feel awkward. A warranty and a thermometer seem worth considering.

Common Questions (5)

  • No. The water and ice dispensers are on the outer side, so you do not need to open the fridge door to use them. That layout is also described as more hygienic and less prone to mold or buildup, though it can be harder to clean.

  • A 5-year extended warranty is recommended for this model because there is concern about long-term reliability. One comment specifically advises investing in the extended warranty after a prior Midea freezer failed near the end of its warranty period.

  • It can be inconsistent. One report says two separate units struggled to hold the set 34°F temperature and often sat in the low 40s, so using a fridge thermometer or temp gauge is a good idea to verify actual performance.

  • It is handleless, which can make it awkward to open because you have to reach up or down for the top or bottom groove. A middle hand groove would be more ergonomic, especially for different user heights.

  • Yes. One comment says Lowe's regular price is $1,399, not $1,999, so the advertised markdown can look larger than the real discount. That same buyer also got a $300 price match back after purchasing it.

This looks like the same thing sold as Insignia at Best Buy for 1/2 the price.
We have 2 of them, so far so good.

Do you have a model number or UPC of the Insignia version?

So it will be $100 less and still have the free delivery, kit and removal?

I can only speak for what the national price will be, each retailer could have different specials. The drop in price is from Midea, not from the retailer.

I bought this fridge from Costco. I returned the first because it couldn't maintain temp. I had an analog and digital temp gauge and set the fridge to 34 and the coldest it ever got was 35 and would often sit in the low 40s all day.

Exchanged it for a second one thinking I had a bad unit and it performed the exact same. I gave the first unit six days and the second one seven days. I returned it for another brand.

Be careful with this unit. Definitely get a temp gauge in there to verify temps. My new one feels cooler and is always consistently mid-30s now.

I was looking at this fridge and other similar ones couple month ago, but up close you notice some very big cons.

It has no handles, usually has handle/groove on the top and the bottom.
Makes it awkward to open since depending in height, you have to reach down or up.
Would make more sense to have groove for your hand in the middle.

I think they mean returns. But I got this Fridge, Samsung Washer+Dryer and a cheap Deep Freezer for $1900. They're offer discounts the more you buy. The freezer was free cause it cost $300 and I got a $300 discount for buying a 4th item.
Would you mind sharing the deep freezer you got as fourth item?
