The Pocket Master is a compact, low cost practice and travel multi effects unit that works well for quick guitar testing, late night playing, and suitcase rigs. Bluetooth support stands out for jamming with YouTube or Spotify backing tracks, and the app lets you switch amps and effects on the fly. The rechargeable battery adds real portability, and the five NAM profile slots plus NAM A2 converted support make it more flexible than a basic starter pedal. It is best as a small home or travel tool rather than a full floor rig.

Common Questions (4)

  • At around $30 to $35, it is a strong low-cost practice unit, especially for beginners or for keeping in a guitar case. It is best suited to home practice and quick testing of used guitars or setup changes, rather than replacing a full floor multi-effects rig.

  • Yes. The rechargeable battery makes it practical for portable electric-guitar practice, including travel and late-night use. It can also sound good fed into the aux input of a small Bluetooth speaker or used with headphones in a suitcase-style rig.

  • Yes. It can connect over Bluetooth for jamming along with YouTube or Spotify backing tracks, and the companion app lets you change amps and effects on the fly. That makes it useful as a headphone practice rig or a quick way to tweak tones without bending down to the pedal.

  • Yes. It has 5 NAM profile slots for loading rigs you want to mimic, and it also supports NAM A2 converted content. That makes it more flexible than a basic practice multi-effects unit if you want to experiment with captured amp sounds.

Same, got it for $50. Totally worth the price. At $30, its a great small pedal, especially if you're starting out.

Also loads NAM A2 converted
Pretty sure its the A2 lite right? So it would be the same quality as what you get when you play through the browser on the Tone3000 site.

I recently updated my Headrush MX5 with homebrew and man.. it has been reborn.

The A2 lite option that I keep considering is that Blackstar Beam Mini. Seems like a killer couch rig.

It is a good product but tonex plug makes them all obsolete.
The Tonex Plug is $150 bucks. That's 5x the price. I'm pretty sure these guys will be fine.. different target audiences.

Plus, I imagine most people buy these as an entry point to play with effects and figure out what they like.

Did you use the firmware hack that hijacks the Anxiety OD pedal, or something else?

Paid the full $60 for this and I'm pretty happy with it. For this price it's a no brainer.

Like I was saying on a previous page, this is something cheap to keep in a guitar case and it's better than nothing if you want to practice late at night. When I want to really play I plug into a tube amp. Nothing compares to that in the fx processor realm. I've learned over the years it's wasted money investing in that stuff. But if I am spending that sort of $ on an effects processor (which I have a few times over the years), I'm going with one that sits on the floor and has some pedals to switch between presets, turn effects on and off, and have an expression pedal (which often doubles as a wah).

Have you tried running DI captures into the FX return on a tube amp? It's a game changer.. the response and sound is just incredible. I have Tonex in the return of an HX Effects .. one channel out to a Monoprice 25watt and the other to the Monoprice V30 Cab being pushed by a Bantamp.

I also have a Fender FR-12 that I use for IR CABs, Bass and Electric Piano. It has been one of my best purchases for that fact.
