This 18 volt pipe press kit is aimed at residential plumbing and hydronic work, with the older SL 1930 version delivering 19 kilonewtons of force. It handles stainless steel, copper, PEX, and XPAP in the listed sizes, and it has been used successfully for 1 half inch copper water lines and even full bathroom repipes. The main limitation is power, since the 19 kilonewton output may struggle on 1 inch pipe and is not considered enough for HVAC refrigerant lines or steam radiator work. Compatibility approval from Viega is also a concern, so it fits best where its jaw sizes and pressure rating match the job.

  • Home plumbers re-piping bathrooms, because it makes press-fit work much easier than sweating pipe.

  • DIY homeowners doing 1/2-inch copper water lines, because it works great for that size in residential plumbing.

  • Residential plumbing and hydronic installers, because the 19 kN press force handles copper, stainless, PEX, and XPAP within the listed size range.

  • Installers matching jaws to specific fittings, because the tool works only when the mold clamp matches the pipe size.

  • HVAC technicians pressing refrigerant lines, because the 19 kN output may not have enough force for HVAC and high-pressure pipe work.

  • Steam-heating repair work, because the rubber washer in these fittings can deform under high heat and leak.

  • Installers needing a fully approved press system, because Viega does not list these press tools as an approved jaws-and-rings combination.

  • Plumbers working on 1-inch pipe, because the 19 kN output may struggle even with the included 1-inch jaw.

it applies 19kN of pressure.

It can handle the following types of materials:
-Stainless steel pipe:12-35mm (1/2"-1")
-Copper pipe: 1/2" 3/4" & 1"
-Pex pipe. XPAP:16-40mm

Check to make sure your required pipe fitting size has a matching mold clamp.

AI chat tool provided the following assessment: I would consider the SL-1930 for residential plumbing and hydronic work based on what I've found. However, I would not yet recommend it as a primary professional HVAC refrigerant-line press tool based on the limited (not negative) independent long-term evidence.

No it doesn't. You need mega press jaws for HVAC and high pressure pipes and use the 32kn press. This doesn't have enough oomph for hvac.

Looks like Vevor site has the newer, stronger version with 24kN force for $501 with coupon code USA15. https://www.vevor.com/crimping-to...EsQAvD_BwE

Im guessing proprietary batteries? I have Ryobi stuff, are battery adapters available?

If i want a tool that does ALL types of pipes (hvac, plumbing, etc) then i need the newer, more powerful model, correct?

Viega does not list vevor or their press tools as approved jaws/rings combination. Something to keep in mind.

this one might has struggle to work on the 1 inch pipe even though it includes the 1 inch jaw because the output is 19kn. I just bought the standard one pz 3240 which output is 32kn at around $700 after all discount.

I got this for 351.68 in June. I've done lots of 1/2in water line copper work in my home with it, works great for that. The pros at the plumbing supply told me I couldn't use it for my steam radiators, which is a bummer, but otherwise I've been happy with the performance.

Any reason as to why not? Is the pressure on those higher than in regular water lines?

The compression fittings these use have a rubber washer which they say gets deformed over time with the high heat of a steam heating system and then leaks.

I have this. Totally re-piped 2 bathrooms in my house. Absolutely worth it. So much easier than sweating pipe. 10/10 would buy again.
