Before anyone asks, no, no ai is used in my posts, just good old fashioned human autism.

Considering the dire state of the diy pc market at the moment, this bundle is currently by far the best value for building a gaming pc on a very tight budget.
For reference, a newegg combo with the far slower r5 5600x, 16gb of similar specced ram, and a single tower air cooler worth ~$20 went frontpage with +41 upvotes for $254 a couple of days ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/20250948-newegg-amd-ryzen-5-5600x-6-core-cpu-16gb-team-t-force-delta-rgb-ddr4-3200-ram-free-gamdias-cpu-cooler-254
Said newegg combo plus a slightly higher end gigabyte motherboard than the one in the microcenter bundle went frontpage with +41 upvotes for $339 ($89 more expensive for drastically worse gaming performance) a couple of days ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/20250831-newegg-amd-ryzen-5-5600x-gigabyte-b550-eagle-wifi-6-motherboard-16gb-t-force-delta-rgb-ddr4-3200-ram-free-cpu-cooler-339-at-newegg

The 5600x3d is a 6-core 12-thread zen 3 "vermeer" cpu on the am4 socket. It's functionally a r7 5800x3d with two fewer cores and a 100mhz lower boost clock (4.4ghz instead of 4.5ghz). Compared to the other "budget" am4 x3d cpu, the 5700x3d, it likewise has two fewer cores but instead has a 300mhz higher boost clock. Due to having 96mb of L3 cache, it has substantially superior gaming performance compared to other non-x3d zen 3 cpus. The 5600x3d offers gaming performance only very slightly worse than both the 5800x3d and zen 4 r5 7600x, being a bit over 25% faster than the 5600x non-x3d on average. Multi-threaded performance is ultimately far more mediocre; while six zen 3 cores are serviceable for standard daily use and office work the x3d cache doesn't provide much of a boost in most non-gaming applications. Unlike the r5 5500 cpu commonly found in cpu+ram+mobo bundles in the ~$200-$300 range, the 5600x3d supports pcie gen 4. The 5600x3d does NOT have an igpu, you will need discrete gpu for display output. A cpu cooler is NOT included with the 5600x3d. With a tdp of 105w I'd generally recommend at minimum a good quality single tower cooler.

It's not clear if the included gigabyte motherboard is Rev. 1.0 or 1.2; based off the microcenter product image it appears to be Rev. 1.0, but it's possible the image just hasn't been updated.
Motherboard specs (Rev. 1.0): https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherbo...-rev-10/sp
The Gigabyte B550M DS3H AC R2 is a lower-midrange micro-atx board using the most recent am4 midrange b550 chipset. It has a fairly weak 5+3 or 6+2 phase vrm (depending on revision), fortunately that should be more than sufficient for the 5600x3d. I wouldn't recommend swapping to a 12+ core cpu on this board, but the 5600x3d already gets within spitting distance of the fastest am4 gaming cpu so there isn't any real upgrade path on am4 anyway. Overall io appears serviceable for a budget gaming build, it has: 2x m.2 slots (1x pcie gen4 x4, 1x gen3 x2), 4 sata ports, 3x pcie slots (primary pcie gen4 x16, 1x gen3 x4, 1x gen3 x1), wifi 5 + bt 5.0, 1gbe Lan, a lower-midrange realtek audio chip, and a decent assortment of usb ports. It supports bios flashback (Q-flash plus), so I'd personally recommend flashing the latest bios (either "F4c" for Rev. 1.0 or "FA2b" for Rev. 1.2, double check which revision you have before updating) with a usb drive before installing the cpu.
The alternate asus motherboard is at most a small to moderate step up over the gigabyte and not worth the $20 premium at this price point imo, the specs can be found here for anyone interested: https://www.asus.com/us/motherboa.../techspec/

The included ram is ddr4 3200 CL16-18-18-38 at 1.35v, which is pretty standard for midrange ddr4. It's more than fast enough for even a midrange build, especially since x3d cpus are less sensitive to memory speed and timings (due to the x3d cache reducing the incidence of cache misses). I wouldn't expect there to be a significant amount of overclocking headroom, but as mentioned previously that doesn't matter much with a x3d cpu. This particular kit is on the QVL list for both motherboard options, so you shouldn't have any problems hitting the advertised speeds and timings. It doesn't have any rgb, I'm sure some people consider that a downside but I personally consider it a plus, since rgb on ram often worsens thermals. G.skill has a good reputation currently, they appear to still be properly honoring warranties despite the ram apocalypse while some of their competitors, such as microns defunct brand crucial, are not.

Overall, this bundle is the best value there's been for a budget gaming build for the past few months. While I can't guarantee there won't be better deals come black friday/cyber monday, unless the ai bubble pops or international shipping prices drop substantially, I don't anticipate significantly better deals in the short term. If you have a higher budget and can afford to wait at least another 6 months, it might be worth holding out for next-gen amd zen 6 and intel nova lake cpus to release.
