For those looking for this on the original switch, I got it last week on Walmart plus for $20 (open box). It's a code in a box, so not too sure how that works w an open box but we'll find out.

As someone who has played this game A LOT, I can say that it is a great relaxation game. There is 100s of hours of free content and new free characters coming every year (With roadmaps every year as well teasing new characters. I'll add an image of the current roadmap below for the new characters after Lilo this winter)

However, the game is not without caveats.

There are micro transactions galore. This ranges from premium currency that is overpriced to full blown expansions as well as season passes for cosmetics. Often the expansions include a $20 "deluxe" upgrade to get access to locked creature companions/styles/cosmetics. Premium currency cannot be used on DLC, only on shop items and the season passes. (You can earn this currency for free through online Dreamsnap competitions which are basically photo challenges every week)
The games feels like a suped up mobile game in some regards. Animations can be janky, assets are often reused, and elements of the game do feel underwhelming at times.
Some characters are far along into the game to unlock, and some have quest requirements that are not directly advised. Often times I have to look up recipes and requirements online because the game simply does not tell you itself. This has gotten better with updates but its still an issue here and there.
Oogie Boogie, the newest character is a seasonal character. You have to start the game and get Scrooge's store, Peaceful Meadow, and Cez Remy before you can start his questline. Which are very early game things, but you only have till November 11th to start his quests (if you start them you can finish them at any time) and then he will not come back for a year.

I also do not advise getting this version of the game. As others mentioned, it is just a code in the box. The only good physical copy in my opinion is the Xbox version (the cozy edition content is on disc, the game is disc to digital eligible, and play anywhere eligible). If you are on Xbox, the Ultimate edition is on sale for the remainder of today and comes with the base game and 2 expansions. On PC, Loaded has the ultimate and other editions with the expansions on sale as well. Playstation and Switch were just on sale so I would hold out for the next one.

Finally, Keepsake Sea launches on the 18th. The old Ultimate editions will be removed and a new one for $80 will go up, this will include a standard copy of the last DLC (Wishblossom) and Keepsake Sea as well as the new DLC's deluxe items (or should anyways read the description carefully before purchasing the new ultimate edition as it is not up yet). Hope this helps!

Edit: I forgot to mention the game has cross save but not cross purchase, though characters you unlock in the dlc will appear in your basic valley even on systems without that dlc.

The wiki also has a lot of useful info and redemption codes you enter in the system menu (like COMMUNITYCOMPANIONDRAGON2025 that gives you a free Dragon companion).
