I can think of three reasons.
Resale. Collectible. You actually own the game.

This digital Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time is being praised for its beautiful visual overhaul, smooth gameplay, and faithful feel that still plays like the original with modern graphics. The more linear, peaceful structure makes it an easy pick for kids, casual players, or anyone wanting a relaxing game after work. The main drawback is the price, since cheaper routes exist through discounted Nintendo or Costco gift cards, and the deal can be finicky if the wrong fulfillment option is selected. It is a solid way to revisit a classic if convenience matters more than squeezing out the absolute lowest cost.

  • Costco $100 Nintendo gift cards sold for $80 can effectively bring the digital code cost down to about $48.

  • Costco eShop gift cards can be bought at a 20% discount and the gift card email arrives nearly immediately.

    MikeE21286

  • The reimagined world looks beautiful and the gameplay feels very smooth after starting the game.

    IndigoSweater9994

  • Digital purchase can reduce cartridge swapping and contention when multiple Switch 2 consoles are in the same household.

    SharpSnail2475

  • The in-store physical copy at Costco is not the foil limited edition that is listed at $62.99.

    NametoolongovichJr

  • The digital code can fail for some recipients, and the failure reason may be unclear.

    IndigoCrib4594

  • Coupon savings may fail if the order is set up with the wrong fulfillment option, such as choosing shipped instead of delivery.

    jmr2198

  • The game's appeal may be limited for players who want more exploration and challenge compared with BOTW and TOTK.

Worked for me and I shop at Walmart constantly
Same here. Also worked for two people at work I shared the code with and they shop there more than I do. The frustrating part was not really knowing why it didn't work for everyone.

Get physical at all costs
It's not the right choice for everyone. I have multiple Switch 2's in my house for example, and buying digital means multiple people can play at once. No kids moving tiny cartridges back and forth, no arguing over who gets to play.

Worked for me too, and I shop at walmart now and then. I think part of the issue might have been you had to add it to your cart as "delivery" and not "shipped" for the coupon to work. At least I remember it didn't work for me until I changed it to "delivery". Delivery means it will get "delivered" from your local walmart. They really should have a better way of differentiating the two.
