More than okay if you ask me. Solid 1080p PC and might even be okay for some 1440p.

Very solid deal for the current marketplace. We've see similar systems at this price but rarely do they have DDR5 like this one.

Your son could technically play games on a several-year-old laptop that you could find for half this price. This will play games just fine, and the price is reasonable. Just don't pair it with a 4K monitor, because this is more of a 1080p gaming device that can also do 1440p in some games.

This is the new norm -- $1000 PCs with only 8GB VRAM. Sad.

It is completely sad. Unfortunately at current prices, just that GPU, SSD and RAM could run $900. And then you'd still need the rest!

Well since 16 gb vram nvidia cards (5060 ti is cheapest) are $800+, even the 12 gb 5070, it's where we're at. You'll be spending $1,300+ for a 5070ti or around $1,800+ for a 5080. Prices are only going up more on the high end Nvidia gpus. Either buy AMD or get used to it for several years and likely only getting worse.

I bought a very similar machine for a very similar price last month to replace my dinosaur PC. Now I have to battle my son for shared custody of it. He wants his own, I told him to save some money,

Sorry to break this to you but AMD doesn't care about gamers either.

Son's birthday is in two days and I've been debating building one. For this price, it'll work just fine for him.

Not saying they do but I'd recommend someone to buy a 9070xt over a 5060ti 16gb or 5070 at today's prices if they aren't going to use local ai

DR. W does it again. The Goat of PC deals! this is the best you can do (with current pricing) for 900 or less, unless you go used market or have saved parts. add the fact you might be able to do 24 month financing and test drive it for 2 months.

I got the same deal on an MSI from walmart that's 1200 now. you can find deals that have 32GB ram, a better CPU and better GPU, but the dollar/value cost is worse. I've used it to play dawnwalker, borderlands 4, COD MW 4, Diablo 4, at 1440p and it's been fine. You don't really need better specs unless you are doing multiple things or want to run high settings. imho.
