Community Reviews
This OmniDesk is a compact Ryzen 7 8700G desktop that looks strongest as an office, media, and light gaming machine. The 8700G and integrated graphics are described as capable of low end Minecraft, many DX12 games, and even 2K 60 fps in some titles, with the 65 watt power supply giving it a bit more headroom than similar laptop based systems. The main limits are 16GB of RAM, which feels tight for local AI, and a case and power setup that may be hard to upgrade. It is a small, capable box, but not a great fit for heavy local AI or easy expansion.
Common Questions (4)
Not really with 16GB RAM alone. It can handle small supervised tasks like OCR, spreadsheet dumping, and document organization, but local AI generally needs more system memory and often a GPU with substantial VRAM for usable performance.
Yes. It should handle low-end games like Minecraft, and it has been described as capable of running most DX12 games well, including around 2K 60 fps with eye candy in many cases.
It appears to use proprietary motherboard and PSU connections, which can make power-supply replacement difficult. The system is also described as limited to a 65W PSU, with little or no expansion room compared with some mini PCs.
Yes, adding a second matching stick is a common upgrade because dual-channel memory helps feed the CPU and integrated graphics better. The stock single 16GB stick can be swapped for dual 8GB or otherwise expanded if you want better iGPU performance.

regarding the quality of recorded sound, as long as your mic (or other recording hardware connecting directly to the computer) is digital then it should sound just like the old computer. for example, if your microphone connects via USB port, it bypasses the computer's sound card and you don't have to consider whether the sound card is good enough.
