Community Reviews
This OmniDesk is a compact Ryzen 7 8700G desktop that looks strongest for office work, media, light gaming, and general everyday use. The 8700G and its integrated graphics are described as capable of low end Minecraft, many DX12 games, and even 2K 60 fps in some titles, with the 65 watt power supply giving it a bit more headroom than similar mini PCs. The main limits are 16GB of memory, which is thin for local AI, and a case and power setup that may be awkward to upgrade. Open box wear on the SSD also showed up in one unit, so it suits buyers who want a small, capable machine more than a highly expandable one.
Common Questions (5)
Not really for serious local AI. The 16GB system memory is enough for small utility tasks like OCR or document sorting, but local model work generally needs much more RAM and often a GPU with substantial VRAM.
Yes. It appears to use proprietary motherboard and PSU connections, which can make power-supply replacement difficult. The PSU is also described as a weak 65W unit, so upgrades are more constrained than on a typical standard desktop.
A low-power GPU can be added, but the power budget is tight. A 3050-class card that needs no power connector is the easiest fit, while some ~100W cards like an RX 6500 XT or RTX 4060 may work with molex-to-6-pin adapters if the system and power delivery allow it.
Yes. It should handle AAA games and can do around 2K/60 fps in many DX12 titles, while low-end games like Minecraft are also fine. The main caveat is cooling, since the case heatsink may hit thermal throttling around 95°C under heavier loads.
It can. One open-box unit was identified as a likely 2024 store demo with 8,743 power-on hours, 58.9 TB of host writes, and 44 unsafe shutdowns, though it still showed no media/data integrity errors or error log entries.

regarding the quality of recorded sound, as long as your mic (or other recording hardware connecting directly to the computer) is digital then it should sound just like the old computer. for example, if your microphone connects via USB port, it bypasses the computer's sound card and you don't have to consider whether the sound card is good enough.

looks like some have wired up a standard ATX PSU: https://youtu.be/fXmLxYBcAl4
