This OmniDesk is a compact Ryzen 7 8700G desktop that looks strongest as an office, media, and light gaming machine. The 8700G and integrated graphics are described as capable of low end Minecraft, many DX12 games, and even 2K 60 fps in some titles, with the 65 watt power supply giving it a bit more headroom than similar laptop based systems. The main limits are 16GB of RAM, which feels tight for local AI, and a case and power setup that may be hard to upgrade. It is a small, capable box, but not a great fit for heavy local AI or easy expansion.
The Ryzen 7 8700G can handle DX12 games and may reach around 2K 60fps in typical use.
The 65W PSU design can provide a bit more power than many laptop-class systems with similar architecture.
The desktop can support practical office workflows like OCR PDFs, spreadsheet organization, and document management.
USB microphones can bypass the computer sound card, which can help recorded audio match expectations.
HP prebuilts may use proprietary PSU and motherboard connections, which can make power supply replacement difficult.
Local AI performance can be limited because 16GB system memory may be insufficient for meaningful workloads.
Local AI workloads may be very slow when relying on system RAM instead of a GPU.
Thermal throttling risk can be high because the case heatsink may push the CPU toward 95°C.

regarding the quality of recorded sound, as long as your mic (or other recording hardware connecting directly to the computer) is digital then it should sound just like the old computer. for example, if your microphone connects via USB port, it bypasses the computer's sound card and you don't have to consider whether the sound card is good enough.
