Victorinox's Fibrox chef's knife is a durable, workhorse option with a grippy handle and strong edge retention for the price. It gets praise for comfortable control, even with arthritis, and for staying useful over years of regular use. The 10 inch size is the main drawback for home kitchens, where it can feel unwieldy and larger than most cutting boards or everyday tasks need. At $33.49, it lands well below the recent $40 plus pricing and feels like a solid value for a big chef's knife.

Common Questions (4)

  • For most home kitchens, the 10" size is often overkill and can feel unwieldy on typical cutting boards. It is better suited to breaking down large items, while 8" is the more practical everyday home size.

  • At $33.49, it is a strong value compared with its usual $40+ pricing and its older sub-$20 price point. It is described as a durable workhorse that can stay in a kitchen for years if not abused.

  • The Fibrox handle is reported to be very stable and easy to grip, including for people with arthritis. That non-slip feel is one reason it remains a favorite for long-term use.

  • It can be tossed in the dishwasher, but hand washing is better for maintaining the edge. With proper care, the blade can stay razor sharp for years.

Good deal. Need a deal on the 8" knife, 10" is a little big for most home kitchen tasks.

I have the same knife, just 8". It is great. I agree with Coconutz0311, 10" for home kitchen is too much.

I have this knife and often reach for it over my much more expensive German ones.

Has been consistently the ATK best budget knife pick.

Amazon has the Victorinox Fibrox 10-inch chef's knife (listed as 9.8") for $33.49, shipped and sold by Amazon. The page shows a typical price of $53.78.
Not sure why you added this incorrect information. The Amazon ad also contains a 10" knife for $48.81. So the 9.8" knife, while pretty much 10", is _not_ their 10" knife. They are both listed and much different prices.

The 11.18" knife is a much better deal right now at $30.83. Same function as a 9.8" or 10" knife.

These are _great_ knives. While it is always best to hand wash them (to maintain the edge), they can easily be tossed into the dishwasher. I've had mine for about 2 years and they are still razor sharp.

18 year butcher here... THIS is one of the best workhorse knife companies you can go with. This can be a bit long but for the price, it will be in your kitchen for years unless you open cans of tuna with it or scrape gum off the side walk. 10/10 would get at this price.

Both 10" knives on the page are model 5.2003.25. They do have different UPC numbers but that is probably just due to packaging. The more expensive one is also a third party listing so who knows what you might get.

I agree. I bought a 10 inch victorinox. And I feel it's nice for breaking down huge things like a huge watermelon. But it's unweidly in my small kitchen space. 6" is great for light stuff and 8" is the perfect home kitchen size

Mostly just cutting board sizes for the home don't support 10" knives very well

I agree with BorisS6834 agreeing with Coconutz0311 that 10" is too much for the kitchen. 8" is the sweet spot.

I love these knives. I have had mine (8 inch) for years, they could probably use a sharpening but they still work really well. The handle material is great for me with arthritis, it is very stable and easy to grip.

This was once a pretty good value and sold for around $20 (10+ years ago?). Then it got good reviews and the price just keep inflating, regularly costing $40 or more even pre-covid. At this point, $33 is pretty darn good.
