The roach problem exists everywhere in Maui, not just at Honua Kai. The Westin faces the same problem with roaches. The problem with Honua Kai is that these are owner-owned condos so who knows if the unit you get is up-to-date or behind on their maintenance/issues. It's kind of a crap-shoot. That being said, there are TONS of reviews within the past year of people enjoying their stay with no roach issues (I would just avoid the 1st floor as again, it's Maui and there's roaches everywhere outside and some eventually make their way inside).
