I don't see any trade in options though; guess the price is too low. I usually take advantage by exchanging some cheap old device to get a $5 gift card and 10% to 20% off towards the purchase.
As for the doorbell, it's a big improvement over the old model with a much wider and clearer picture. I still get plenty of false motion alerts when cars pass by my street despite cutting off most of the detection area in the app though just like with the older model; guessing it's the reflection of the cars as they pass by. The battery last about 3 months.
The Blink outdoor camera is best used in low traffic areas IMO as lithium batteries are pretty expensive. Low traffic areas like basements to monitor appliances like sump pumps, water heaters, fuel level gauges for oil tanks etc are ideal placement locations IMO. Good for detecting an occasional mouse as well or anything funky moving around in infrequently visited areas.
However, you can power the cams via a standard 5v USB power line/jack to make them work well in high traffic areas. That kind of eliminates the convenience and ease of placement the Blink cams excel at though.
One more thing, these package deals only come with the Sync Module Core meaning you can't save or record locally and you need a subscription to archive and view video files. You need the Sync Module 2 to have local save functionality via an attached usb stick.

Here's the final paragraph of that post that answers your question...
edit: the view is of a driveway but there is a semi-busy street in the background. So not ideal situation for battery-only cameras.
The Sync Module 2 FAQ states... [blinkforhome.com]
"When you open the clip List, your USB drive provides a list of the most recent 1,000 clips created in the past 30 days of activity. To view all clips, you must safely eject the USB drive and move it to your computer."
So all your clips are being archived but due to the limitation of the Blink app, you can only view up to 30 days. Anything past that you need to remove the USB stick and connect it to a device/PC that can read the full contents of the drive...
