Wow the fact that you broke that cycle is amazing, Many never come out of a downward spiral like that!

Sometimes it takes an event high on the Holmes and Rahe scale to make that sort of change. While I'm sorry it was the death of your father it's a positive from a negative and has lead to a healthier and hopefully happier life for you!

I was fortunate my father and I had an excellent relationship for many years. We knew his condition for about two years before his passing, so it was not completely unexpected. I still enjoy a taste of fine 18- or 21-year old single-malt Macallan every so often, but that's only once or twice a year. It seems I inherited my father's tolerance for fine alcohol. laugh out loud

People used to ask me how much I could drink before falling down or passing out. I always told them, "I dunno, it's only happened to me once in my life before." That was the night I woke up in the front yard of the frat house with the rain pouring down on my face. My frat brother wasn't any better off, our brothers had driven out to pick us up and threw us out on the lawn sometime early the night before.
