If it runs 2k, it should also run XP....set bios to boot to CD before hard drive, so it sees the windows disc first.

it will just show win 2k and say loading. Once windows starts to load it shuts off.

That's not a good sign. Maybe some of the RAM from one of the other garage sale PCs would help, if you swapped it out?
