Trolls and the Lounge

Hopefully this will be a serious thread and won't get deleted/locked. That is my intention.
Please, no names.
There are obvious posters here whose only mission seems to be to troll threads and the Lounge. Obvious misspellings and 'l33k speak' or whatever. They seem to get off on the inevitable posts that follow them.
My question is why? I understand if some relative n00b replies to them, but why do the regulars here continue to entertain these folks? If no one would play their games then eventually they will either go away or change their ways. It is rare that one of them ends up being a regular (Nagin comes to mind

I think some of them are banned people returning to start shit.

Look at how many people keep talking to F-o-F despite the inane and brainless nature of the polls he posts? It's the internet - someone is always going to respond no matter how stupid, annoying, ridiculous or boring your post happens to be.
And sometimes it's hard to resist posting a lmgtfy link or just stoking the flames a bit... hell how many times have things slowed down in here & someone starts wishing for more drama?
I think we can't have it both ways if we want a forum that's open to the public where anyone is welcome to post.
