RETIRED: A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

"Greenberg" - Didn't care for it.

"The Fountain" - The concept (by Aronofsky) was was pretty ambitious but seemed a bit all over the place. It wasn't terrible.

This is EnglandAnd I'm in tears. Not because of the movie, but because at the end it said that the movie was dedicated to someone, so I Wiki'd it...it was dedicated to the little lead actor's mother. Frown She died before the film was wrapped and she never saw it. The whole cast attended her funeral. And the thing that I found the most charming is:This was the lead actor's first movie. He'd never acted before. He'd been thrown out of his school play for bad behavior and he demanded 5 pounds to show up at the audition for this movie. Frown I want to take him home! That - combined with the facts that it had the same actor who plays Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire and that it was such a well-made movie - made this a complete winner in my book.Terrible subject matter (sad, I mean), but wonderful movie.

True Grit 8.5/10

Not big on westerns but was a really good movie, Jeff Bridges and the girl really make this movie. Another good movie by the Coen brothers. I am going to add the original to my list.

Shutter Island 8/10

I knew the spoiler but movie was still enjoyable. I heard bad things about the movie from some people but I don't know what they were complaining about.

Not sure why I just watched back to back korean romantic comedies.. but here they are.

"Sex is zero 2" - American pie like movie, kind of funny. This is the movie for you if you enjoy R rated humor.

"My wife got married" - If you are into romantic comedy that is more romantic than comedy, and is kind of serious at times. This will be interesting for you.

Temple Grandin - It was really good. Made me cry. They did a great job showing Temple's perspective.

Really good movie. I had no idea that he was the same guy from Boardwalk Empire. I saw somewhere that they were going to do a BBC miniseries follow up to the movie Dontknow

"Buried" - It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Aside from one totally unnecessary "action" sequence I thought they did a lot with it considering the limited camerawork options.

I wish my computer hadn't been acting funky and squishing my whole post together, last night.

In some ways, I felt like the movie was a British "American History X", but I loved it anyway and the kid was a great actor.

Tron- 7/10 Great visuals but was lacking in story. The last battle was a let down, including the one with Tron himself.

Exit Through the Gift Shop - 4 out of 5
Both can be found on NetFlix and both are documentary films. Really enjoyed both.

I was just looking at that yesterday. I didn't put it in my queue, but I thought about it.

Now I might have to back and reconsider.

It was pretty good. MBW is quite the character (and I'll say nothing else so as not to taint your viewing. Smilie )

"Black Swan" - It was pretty good, not great. It should probably win some awards for directing, score and cinematography, but I was expecting more from Portman given how much people are talking up her role (above and beyond the lesbian scene.)

"Rabbit Hole" - Really good. It deals with a very weighty subject without clubbing you over the head with it.
