One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Lincoln Lawyer - Pretty good crime thriller. I would've loved to see Bryan Cranston (of Breaking Bad fame) with a bigger part though. He probably had less than 5 lines, what a waste of talent. 8/10

The Next Three Days is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! You can't look away.

I respectfully disagree. I thought it was too long in the tooth with him trying to set everything up and not enough of them "on the run". Christ, how much could we see of him following drug dealers to try and get a phony passport? Like someone else earlier in the thread mentioned, it got rather boring in the middle. Just my opinion.
Iagree I reviewed and lost interest in that movie because it was boring. But Linuxchick convinced me to rewatch it the next time I see it on TV.

I saw:
Kick-Ass - 3.5/5 - I liked the movie, I liked the action and the plot.

Killers - 2/5 - Not so good, was a little like uh? The action part wasn't even good.

Iron Man 2 - can't rate, I totally lost interest after 1 min of watching it, I'll have to rewatch when it airs again. laugh out loud

Just Wright - 2.75/5 - Nice chick flick laugh out loud

Trade - This stars Kevin Kline and is about sex slave trafficking, I thought it was pretty good.

"A Woman A Gun and a Noodle Shop" - it was a Chinese remake of the Coen Brothers' "Blood Simple" - I have to say that I liked the remake better than the original. Pretty quirky and beautifully shot (it was done by my favorite Chinese director - the colors in the his movies are really cool.)

As much as I love everything he has ever made, I thought he blew this one however.

Limitless - 2.75-3/5 - decent movie, at some points it felt like it was dragging too, then at the end it felt kind of rushed. I won't get into the specifics since I don't want to ruin it for others who haven't seen it.

Ondine - Watched this last night and thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed the scenery, was filmed on a coast in Ireland, and it was mythical but not too much. It's about a fisherman (Colin Farrell) who catches a water nymph (Selkie) in his net. I really enjoyed the little girl in this film too.
IDK why, but your post reminded me of The Secret of Roan Inish. Good movie!

Thanks for mentioning that, I looked it up at IMDB and it sounds interesting. May have to queue it up some time.

Have Conviction and The Next Three Days on Blu-ray to watch soon.

A Beautiful Mind - Never really knew what it was about until I watched it and loved every bit of it. Jennifer Connelly and Russell Crowe were amazing.

Star Trek - Great action scenes and visual effects. Enjoyed it even though I have never seen a Star Trek episode before

Limitless - Cool idea, but some parts did seem to drag on a bit and were a bit "out-there".

Crash - Seen it before and still liked it.

Chariots of Fire - I understand why it won Best Picture but was not a fan.

The Illusionist - Good movie, but still liked The Prestige better.

"Faster": Finally the Rock made a real movie after his countless disney/kid crap movies. Not much of a story line. Just lots of driving and shooting. Leave your brain at the door. 7.5/10.

"Tangled": I had high expectation, maybe too high after seeing previews online. I have always been a disney fan when it comes to cartoons and animation. Aladin and Lion King are still King of Disney Movies as far as I am concern. Tangled wasn't as funny as I had hope for. 7/10.

I hope that new movie "Rio" will be better than "Tangled".

The Sorcerer's Apprentice: This movie had potential but the story line and the actors were very weak. But than again, atleast I finished watching the movie, I can't even say that for Inception, which I stopped watching after 10 mins. 5/10.

Black Swan: Avoid it like the plague. Terrible. Just like Shutter Island, it was soooo incredibly predictable. Oh yeah, and it was amazingly boring too. 1/10

Two excellent movies Thumbup

All Good Things

Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling are simply marvelous in this "Truth is stranger than fiction" tale of transformation and betrayal. 7.5 out of 10.

Fair Game

Naomi Watts is Valerie Plames.

8 out of 10, a must see!

If you'd seen the TV shows and other Star Trek movies, you might have a slightly different opinion. The new movie doesn't exactly follow canon and re-writes quite a few things.
It's worth watching, as long as you consider it a totally different franchise from the original.
