Costco Eye Glasses $30/off EACH pair or $60 off 2 sets of Eye Glasses....coupon mis-print

Costco usually runs $30 off 2 pairs of glasses, but they have an error in the coupon book that says $30/off each, or in other words $60 off 2 sets. My local store told me of the error and said they're honoring the mistake.

I'm in need of new glasses and am considering a Costco membership in order to get them there. How are their rates/quality? Anyone have any opinions?

Costco optique isn't very slick IMO. They charge you separately for eye exam IIRC. After visiting a few local places, I found some places where you can get an Oliver Peoples frame + decent lenses + prescription all for about $200.

I've bought a couple different eye glasses from different vendors and costco is BY far the best quality....Thin and light, anti-glare...They've always serviced them free of charge when screws come loose....I just paid a little over $200 today for 2 pairs (1 sunglass, 1 regular) single vision. The sunglass were the most expensive.

I think Costco optical is super slick. In fact, for the first three years I had my membership I never strayed out of the optical department. I buy contacts through them exclusively, and my lenses for the last three years. If you do not have a "Costco" frame they upcharge you about $18 for the lenses, but new lenses for about $50 beats other quotes of over $200 (for the same thin poly lenses).

I think they're fantastic with their service and prices, but their frame selection is not too great. Maybe 100-150 pair for women and 100ish for men, 50 for kids? I never really checked if they have the same frames between all the stores, I would guess many similar, but some differences like their general inventory.

My current frames really need to be replaced, looks like I'm headed to Costco. Thanks OP!!

Edit: I have found really cute costco frames from about $45-60- they have cheaper and more expensive, most expensive I have seen is about $130 for the frame only. Easily can walk out with a pair for under $100 not including the exam.

Do you know what brand hi-index(thin lenses) lenses they carry? Could be a deal depending on the brands they carry.

I don't remember any logos on the chart. You can try asking them what brand it is. I just ordered a pair last week. I believe the prices were 70 for regular, 90 for transition, 100 for high index, 170 for high index transition. By transition, I am talking about the lens that turn dark in bright light. I picked up the high index and a costco brand flexible titanium frame for 150. Guess I'll see if they will honor the coupon when I pick it up tomorrow.

When I posted about this yesterday, it made me post in the coupon section:
https://slickdeals.net/f/3897526-Costco-Eyeglasses-30-off-coupon-2-2-2012-2-26-2012?v=1

I prefer to go to my own optometrist, then I get a copy of my prescription. I was going to buy a pair of sunglasses and a spare pare from Costco on Saturday, but I didn't have the prescription with me and when the optometrist office's faxed it over, it wasn't legible, so it had to wait until they could get back in touch with them. Had I bought them Saturday, I would have saved $25 on the second pair.

I had planned to go to Costco yesterday to get it ordered, and when I looked at the coupon book the night before, I saw the $30 coupon and was really glad I had to wait. So I saved $60 off the two pairs, instead of just $25 or even the $30 off the second pair as the coupon was intended.

The optician did cut the coupon out of the book so that it couldn't be used again at my Costco.

FYI: They do not have Crizals, which is what I ordered from the other optical office when I got my main pair, but they do have the very high index lenses with the UV/glare protection I need for my spare, which are cute enough to wear any time.

The frames I picked out were about $40 a piece. I can tell you that I did look at the freefirstpair through coastal, and by the time I added the high index and other needs, the price ended up being more than at Costco, and when I went to Costco I was able to use the new debit card I have from medical reimbursement.

BTW: The coupon says unlimited, so if you wanted a pair for every day of the week, they're supposed to give you $30 off each.

contacts from costco are very expensive compare to all the online stores. Unless you have insurance, it'll be much cheaper to get both contacts and eyeglasses from online these days.

I was just in there last week to see if I could find frames I like. For hi index progressives it would have cost me $200 with about a $50 frame. I wound up getting a pair at my optometrist because I liked the frames he had. With insurance those cost me $260. I needed them sooner rather than later or I would have shopped at other Costco's to see if they had better frames ( I need a really small frame and they did not have any). I got my last pair of prescription sunglasses there and they have been great. I did have a bad experience there a few years ago but it was the person working there. She left my frames in the heater too long while I was in for an adjustment and the plastic frames melted. They did make me a new pair for free.

Can anyone tell me if the coupon is valid only on transition lenses?

I don't have a copy of the coupon, but talked to someone who does, and she said it had transitions listed on it. I don't wear transitions, so I'm not sure if the coupon would help me out. If anyone has a scan of the coupon, please post. Thanks....

I don't use transitions, and I can't recall the exact wording on it, but it seems like it's on prescription eyeglasses, regardless of type.
