How do I get pale again?

10,633 2,427 June 9, 2012 at 01:07 PM in Sad
Ok, so summer has started and I have been playing lots more tennis, I mean lots, avg. 10+ hours a week, and even using sunblock I have went up a good 5 shades, I am Chinese suppose to be lighter/light skin, yellow if you wanna say, now I look dark as some of the Hispanic people out there. Anything I can do? My parents get md at me for this b/c they say girls won't like me as I am so dark and stuff, and they always tell me to not play tennis although I do anyway. Anyway, any advice how to reverse this?

You should listen to your parents. Quit playing tennis and stay inside, become lazy, and get fat. Girls don't really go for the tanned athletic types anyway. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Seriously. Your parents are being stupid.

Last I checked they made sunscreen up to an SPF 85. Might want to shop around. Wink5
They make a kids' SPF 110! woot

That's what I use on my kid. He's still crazy tan anyway, though, and I don't let him outside without a good coat of that stuff. laugh out loud

That stuff isnt cheap. It's like $10 for a small 3 oz. tube. Although the other day, I picked up another bottle of SPF 50 for $8 on the Hot Deals section.

Walgreen had B1G1 free not too long ago... so like two for $11 or $12. The SPF 110. Banana Boat brand, I believe. And if you used coupons, they'd be even cheaper. Big Grin

2 of the spray cans last my kid the whole summer. Granted he's probably a little smaller than you, but he runs around without a shirt half the time, so I cover his entire torso with it.

Well personally I think you should just go with it. There are worse things in the world than being tan from working out.

You know, you could always post a picture and let the lovely ladies of the lounge determine if a tan looks good on you. bulb

You should see my torso, it's white/yellow while my arms and legs are brown.

Iagree

Though it sounds like his parents want him to marry an old world asian girl, so maybe they're into the pale, sickly looking kind? Dontknow

There's nothing at all wrong with that. It'll go away if you live somewhere that's freezing all the time in the winter. laugh out loud

I was reading about the spray stuff, and IDK about the chemicals, and then I read the story about the guy who sprayed that stuff on him, stood next to a grill and got 2nd degree burns. So I go with the lotion.

The lotions were even cheaper. Like the big 8oz bottles of it. Dontknow

And that story sounds skeptical to me. We grill all summer long, spray sunscreen on, never once had that problem. Crazy We didn't even get 1st degree burns! laugh out loud

MLV isn't one of the lovely lounge ladies, so you shouldn't let that discourage you.

I get the "tan arms, pale torso" problem myself, but my approach for evening that out has been to pick up a pair of "tan-thru" swim trunks and do weapons practice out on my driveway wearing just those. Besides the "evening out skin color" effect, it's also much less hazardous to my ceiling than training indoors.

I'm naturally pasty and the sun is pretty evil to me. I had precancerous moles on my back and since I had that diagnosis, I've been incredibly diligent about wearing sunblock. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 100+ and it works wonderfully. I was in Florida for a week and while the sun is especially cruel down there, I didn't get sunburned once. I turned maybe one shade tanner, which most people haven't noticed. May be worth a try. Dontknow It was kinda expensive, though.

I constantly check my body fro new moles and ones that grow in size and such. No changes so far.
