Dog chew toys that don't get them in trouble: Add your dog's favorites! (Thanks, daisee)

1. Fun stuff
- We leave empty cardboard boxes for the dogs to chew up. Also these loofah bones (cleans their teeth while they rip them apart) and TONS of cat toys (with catnip). (from veritableqndry)

2. Hard-to-destroy stuff

-At dollar tree they carry "milkbone" toys... she beats the hell out of them and still they hold up. (not to mention their only a buck if they destroy them) (from wakethewicked2)

- I've had good luck with these -- the avatar dog has destroyed everything but this kind. They come in different sizes and shapes and you can put treats inside for them to dig out: http://www.petmountain.com/produc...-kong.html . I get mine at a local farm store, but I'm sure you could get them at places like Pets Mart if you don't want to buy online. (from callpocket)

- Here are a couple that have survived Sophie so far:
  • Busy Buddy bouncy bone - We gave up on the rawhide inserts. She rips those out in seconds but likes the toy without them anyhow and cannot kill it.)
  • Everlasting treat ball -Again she pulls out the expensive inserts right off the bat...but she likes bouncing the toy. You can also hide dog kibble in the middle for the dog to try to get out, which entertains him for awhile. She hasn't managed to rip this one at all yet even though it feels soft and flexible.
  • Jolly Ball: - Ours is bigger than the one at this link. It's hysterical to see her stick her snout in the hole and wave the ball in the air. It's bigger than her head. She runs around the house with it on her snout, growling and acting like a maniac. I don't know why she can't chew it up, but she can't.
  • Then there are big Nylabones, which she can kill eventually. But they take a long time to die. (from olu)

I was working in the yard.. and.. Apparantly the bulbs I accidently dug up and was replanting... does not taste that great...

And apparantly Lettuce... is icky...
I fed Gus a little piece of lettuce... He would move it around his tounge and spit it out.
I then would pick it up.. and act like it was some awesome treat.. and.. he spits it out..
He will keep taking it from me over and over... Hey.. I was bored, and nothing was on TV..

He.. almost ate a cat today.. Some Cat had the nerve to wander in HIS YARD! I tell you.. That thing got chased for about 3 yards.. That furball is lucky I called Gus.. Or it would have lost a life... (truth is That cat had him beat.... But Gus is sensative about the subject so if it comes up... play along)

Whee for Gus!!! laugh out loud

I get to post in this thread! It's been awhile! Sharing pics of new foster dog and her 2 pups. They were suppose to be outside playing in the yard... I returned from the garage to find my backdoor wide open... (Nevermind that I have 2 cats I don't want outside.EEK! ) I find momma dog out in the yard chewing on a big bag of Sun Chips!! Evidently she opened my door, went into the kitchen and helped herself! laugh out loud Told her next time to knock first and ask! She's actually very very sweet! heart

Yes, I have that problem... I'm wanting to keep all 3 of these doggies, but you can only keep so many. It's rewarding to find them good homes. The dogs are happy, the new owners are happy, and then more can be saved. Whee I'd keep them all if I could!

I was out in the yard.. and then Gus disappeared...

The lady next door said he was seen chasing 3 wild turkeys...
Two houses down.. said he treed the turkeys and was barking at them...
Further down the street he was seen drinking water from a St. Bernards bowl and eating it's food.

About a mile further... a nice little old lady coaxed him into her garage and called me (number is on the tag) and was feeding him treats....

While he was having a ton of fun, for an hour and a 1/2, I was worried sick...
I need a drink....

That sneaky guy. Someone needs to tell him that if you die of a heart attack from worry, he's totally cut off from future sandwiches to steal EEK!
What Sophie ate last night at her Sammy friend's house: She ripped his doughnut-shaped tennis-ball material toy to shreds when we weren't watching. Bad houseguest manners.
