Raddish's Nursery Project: All done!! Pics #206

32,000 3,053 May 22, 2007 at 07:31 PM
With this load of hardwood, our nursery project officially began today. I already bought a flooring nailer, and a friend of mine is loaning me his finishing nailer, so we'll be ready to start this weekend.

I'll post pics in this thread as the project progresses.

I hope you have done this before otherwise you are going to have a rather huge project ahead of you.

I've never installed hardwood before, but I have put in laminate flooring. I'm also quite handy when it comes to stuff like this, so I don't anticipate it being all that bad. I enjoy home improvements!! Smilie

Yes she did, and she even bought one of the pieces to the nursery set and went to Lowes to have some paint color matched. She did these things all by herself, and she actually did a good job. I'm so proud of her!!

Dear TR,

I think "your nursery project" began a few months ago Evil

I hope your project goes smoother than the infamous paint the living room. If you hurry you might finish before I do.

Good luck.

Update:

Very little progress so far. Today, I got my office moved around a bit and my wife's new desk built. Her office is still full of 'stuff', but she's mostly packed up now. We slept in late today, and instead of working on the nursery I replaced a deck board and stuck the ladder in the pool so we could swim.

Now I'm a lobster.

After we swam we went and did some shopping she wanted to do. So, progress is slow, but we should be getting started for real tomorrow. I'll post a pic once her office/the nursery is empty.

I'm not too upset that we are so far behind schedule though. Today is our anniversary and we spent a good amount of time treating it as such. Big Grin

Okay, better late than never, but we I finally started removing the old carpeting and stuff from the nursery. I took a bunch of pics but had some technical difficulties. Dontknow

Anyway, any advice on the best way to remove the molding without destroying it? I'd like to put it back up after the floor is laid down.

So far, the carpet and pad are both up, as well as the carpet tack strips. I have to get a new filter for the shop vac tomorrow and remove the molding around the room, as well as pull up all the staples from the carpet pad. There are dozens of the little bastards. Annoyed

Spray it with bleach. Don't let the Mrs. breathe it or touch it (but you knew that). I like to wipe it up with paper towels so you can just throw it all away. Also wear a mask.

P.S. I prefer genii.Cool
