I was at two Metro Detroit Home Depot stores (Madison Heights and Troy) and both had a the RIDGID 3,300 psi 3 GPM Gas Pressure Washer for $299 in-store (was $749) YMMV. I would have purchased one but picked up a Homelite pressure washer last year.

EDIT - Added Inventory Checker but I have to say your results may vary as both stores metro Detroit Home Depot stores (Madison Heights and Troy, MI) that I was at today had at least the display model. You may even be able to negotiage a lower price on a display model if a part(s), manual and etc. is missing. Then call the manufacturer to indicate you purchased a display model that had missing part(s) and ask that they send you replacement part(s).

EDIT 12/26 - Picked up one at Conference,MI (last one)for $250+tax (missing nozzle kit and wand extender to which they offered 50% of assessories) that still was marker $750. Sales clerk just about fell over.

EDIT 12/26 - Called Ridgid while I was in store to ask if they replaced missing accessories and they said they did not on display models. So you will need to work with the store manager on additional discounts.

It may be worth a stroll through the home and garden section the next time you are at home deopt to see if they have at least the display model as the two in metro Detroit indicated item not sold in store but each had at least a display model. For example the shelf tag and display model was from Madison Heights (#2731) MI but the inventory checker indicated item not sold in store.

One store shows two in stock locally. I wonder how the quality is with the Subaru engine?

Excellent. I own the non cat pump version with the Subaru engine and it starts right up every year after being stored for months.

Get an electric one. Better chance for lawsuits and less waste off life insurance premiums.

I barrowed a co-worker's electric power washer while it worked ok ... I think I could have done a better job with my tooth brush while using a fraction of the amount of water.

None in my area. I own this pressure washer though and if you can get it. Do it!
This isnt a cheap homeowner pressure washer. I use this commercially. So far I done about 20 houses and 5 decks. I wash my equipment off every few weeks and trucks at the beginning and end of winter. So total use is around 150 hours. The only problem I had was a float in the engine was causing it to flood. That part cost $6.

Sorry slicksder. Just learned about it today. Maybe a good reason ro revisit the in-laws (LOL)? Maybe it could be a team building opportunity with your father in-law to go in on it with you?

My store is about 30 minutes away and shows 2 in stock.

Highly suspect that when I drive up to check out this deal the price will be $749, the same as the online price.

Would it be worth calling your local Home Depot store's home & garden depart to check the price?
