Tim Tebow: Legit or Fad?

50 24 November 23, 2011 at 06:47 PM
Tim Tebow is now the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He has gone 4-1 since he was put in to start. Being a loyal Gator fan, I believe Tebow can prove he deserves to be a starting quarterback for years to come. I guess I want to get a poll of what others think around the country. How do you think Tebow's career will turn out?
Will Tim Tebow be Denver's franchise quarterback?

Ppl think that Tebow is the reason why Denver has been 4-1 as of late. But, it's due to their defense. They've been keeping the scores close enough where they're within a score to win. The only game where they blew someone out was against the Raiders who has always been horrible against the run and was the first to see the QB option offense. All the games have been horrible. Tebow and the Denver offense couldn't do a thing until the final winning drive.

I'll have to say though that Tebow has united the team and they're playing better as a team because of him. But as an NFL qb, Tebow seriously has a limited skill set.

The one thing though that really bugs me with the whole Tebow debate is how ppl are immediately accused of hating him because of his religious beliefs if they say anything negative about the guy. It can't be just because they are critiquing Tebow's skills as they have done with all other QB's in the league. If anything, I think if it wasn't for the fact that ppl love him due to his religious beliefs, he wouldn't have been afforded the opportunity he has been given. I think there are better non-starting QB's in the league (or out of the league) who haven't had the same chances Tebow has gotten.

So, to answer the OP's question, Tebow is NOT the team's QB of the future as long as his ability as a passer doesn't improve. The QB option play isn't going to be successful forever....not that it's even successful now! Because, in the 4 comeback wins this year with Tebow under center, the offense didn't generate really any yards if you subtract the yards they got on their final winning drives.

Tebow is good, but he has not shown any skill to make him exceptional. So far, all I can see is that he can run, like a White-Boy version of Vick when he was with the Falcons. For a QB I need to see his abilities at throwing.

Tebow misses WIDE open, high percentage throws by a considerable amount. Look, the guy is hard to defend when he runs empty backfield with an extra blocker because he's such a huge threat to run. But there's no excuse for teams even keeping scores close against his offense. The Jets lost an embarassing game last week, but their defense gave up 3 points in the first 58 minutes. Tebow's offense will not continue to find itself one score away from winning late in games with him at QB, eventaully teams are going to put up 14+ pt leads and he just won't be able to catch up.

I think there is a ton of unfounded hate toward him. I totally understand critiquing his skills. I also understand taking the anti-Tebow side in order to generate good debate (for writers and TV). However, some people are making it personal. They are getting really bent out of shape and it makes them look pretty small.

The only Tebow haters I understand are the SEC fans who hate him because he always beat their teams, or the AFC West fans who hate the Broncos. People who want to see him fail just because he makes them feel less about themselves upset me.

That being said, I am a Tennessee Vols fan so I hated Tebow until he went to the Broncos. I am a Broncos fan first, everything else second. I really hope that Tebow can improve his passing, but I sadly dont think it will be with the Broncos. I dont think the front office wants to work on Tebow, but I do hope I am wrong.

I completely agree with you. I do believe Tebow can become an NFL quarterback, it just won't be with the Broncos, because those in charge will trade him.

I have a lot of faith he can improve his passing game. But until he does, I agree that teams will eventually start pulling ahead and winning, no matter what last second miracles he can make happen.

Having a fad named after you? Priceless. But I think this is part of the reason some people hate him, which isn't right. He didn't "invent" Tebowing, he just did it and was the inspiration for people to start mimicking him. It is unfortunate all the hate he gets for doing nothing wrong.

I think it's sad how angry people get over religion.

I think it's sad that anything surrounding this Tim Tebow thing has anything to do with religion. Tebowing is not religious. He's using it as a TD celebration. Once he does that, it's fair game to be mocked.
