As someone who spent the last summer in Texas, the general consensus even there is that he should've been guilty of manslaughter at the least. There really wasn't enough information released publicly to know if it was murder or not, possibly not even enough ever discerned by the investigators.

The bottom line, though, regardless of one's political biases, is that a man, race-irrelevant, shot a boy when he should not have carrying a firearm (it was against neighborhood watch rules to carry one). It was also against neighborhood watch rules to approach suspicious persons or attempt any sort of vigilantism. In the absence of substantiating evidence* for or against his story, that he was attacked and shot the kid in self defense, and considering only what is factually known, he should not have been found innocent. Again, probably not murder was his intent cannot be proven, but certainly manslaughter.

* There is some evidence against his story, mostly given the nature and location of the gunshot wound, but again, even completely ignoring this, I don't believe Zimmerman should've been found innocent. And this isn't some kind of "liberal" brainwashing, just objectivism. Unless that's what qualifies for being a liberal these days, in which case, I guess I will gladly renounce my GOP membership.

Seriously did anyone think the prosecution would win? I knew they were gonna lose from the start, what message would it send to oppressed people letting Zimmerman go to jail?

It doesn't matter what the NW 'rules' were. He was a law abiding citizen with a legal concealed carry permit.

The only witness to any of the confrontation stated that Travon was on top of Zimmerman 'grounding and pounding him" MMA style.

A boy? You know he was 6ft and 150lb right?

He may have violated neighborhood watch rules, but those are between him and them not the law of the land.
