Costco now has a new model of Traeger Lil Texas Elite grill for $399.

There are some slight differences from the Costco model and the normal Elite. It is model BBQ07C instead of BBQ07E.

The Smoke Stack cap and door are not in Stainless steel (Bonus in my opinion) they are
in normal black powder coat like the standard Lil Texas

The BBQ07C only has two wheeled legs not four.

Besides that the BBQ07C is exactly like the BBQ07E and even has the newest digital temperature controller.

On top of the 3 year warranty you get from Traeger ...Costco gives a lifetime money back on these.

MSRP for BBQ07E is $799. Normal price is probably closer to $699. The BBQ07C is only $399.

Here is the kicker... The BBQ07C is a new model and will be carried in Costco stores on an ongoing basis. During the Traeger events the sales guy will not display these and will hide or remove the price sign above these... He does not make a commission on these.

I bought the Junior for $299 (smaller, not as well made and without digital thermostat for $299) and ended up returning it for this one. Just the thermostat alone is worth $70-80 dollars.

So is this mostly confirmed that it is only showing up at the roadshow Costco's? Doesnt seem like many people have had actual luck finding this particular model, and more odd than anything else is that its item code BBQ07c or whatever isnt showing up in any database as even existing outsite of the post made here on slickys.

I know it is not the same but I bought one of these for $250 at Mendards:

I like this because you don't have to constantly check your temperature, once you set it you can let it go for 10-12 hours without doing a thing.

Cheaper alternative than the BGE or Primo.

Traeger is a much better pure smoker. Kamado is a descent grill and a somewhat sub par smoker just due to design. But it will allow you to grill as well so I guess up to you. I just want a smoker only.

Also, the Traeger takes up a lot of real estate. Komodo doesn't have as large a footprint. If space is a consideration....

I see a lot of this in the BBQ community--you know, lots of talk about how if you're not building your own fire out in the woods to cook meat you killed with your bare hands, you're cheating. Some of us are looking for a set-it-and-forget-it approach that still results in good quality BBQ, and that's what the Traeger is for.
Snobbery in the BBQ world? Get out.

Next you'll tell me that there are people who think that Kansas City/Texas/Carolina/Memphis/.... is the ONLY way to BBQ.

I got my BBQ start on a (gasp) electric smoker that (gasp) only used chips, no whole wood. It turned out enough good food to get me hooked.

I love my pellet grill. I did return the Traeger and bought a Green Mountain Grill - better temp/better materials.

Any hardwood/food pellets work. No special pellets for any of the major pellet brands - just don't use the softwood like you would use for a warming stove.

Pellet brands do seem to matter. Some of the cheaper ones don't burn as hot or clean and leave excess residue. The best I have used are Traeger and Green Mountain brand.

Home Depot sells pellets for $10/20lb. They work but you get what you pay for with them. Coyle with a 10% or 20% coupon.

Also... If you buy the roadshow demo you get the $50 cover, 1 bag of pellets, cookbook and some dry rub. No discount, just extras.

Still at my Costco. In fact, they were down to 3 and now they have 8.

However, the price is now $499 not $399. Costco does not normally play price games but it is what it is. Seems to be semi permanent item, but why they jacked the price back up $100 bucks I have no idea.

Also, during the road show the sales guy tried to hide this model. In fact, I did not see it. I was told by another guy there that the sales guy did not make commissions on the Costco model...only the road show models.

Which would explain why he pushed the Junior so hard at $299 and suggested I get the digital later rather than point me to the BBQ07C.

I would agree with everyone that says Traeger is entry. There are much better ones out there today, but it is still a solid product with a good warranty. If you have $1000 budget get a Rek Tek or a Yoder...Daniel Boon would not be a bad choice either. If you have a $1500 get the Mak.

I was told the Costco item # is 760262 but none were available in SoCal when they checked at the Simi Valley Costco.

Im shopping for a pellet smoker, and this is a great deal at $400. Hopefully Ill be able to find one in stock.

Otherwise I may have to try the $500 char-griller pellet grill from lowes.

anyone try any of the other costcos in the northern VA /DC area?
