Are these good prices? I'm in the market for a King size bed, and my head is spinning looking at all these different choices. Also, Sleepy's and other places seem to have similar sales, but I can't find an apple to apple comparison since apparently they use different names? For example, Sleepy's have Santa Ana, which apparently is the equivalent of Cooper Mountain II on US Mattress's website. Why is this?

Mattress companies produce a million different "models", and they often aren't exactly alike (a minor difference in the thickness of one of the layers or something like that). This is precisely to keep you from doing comparison shopping between stores, I suppose because the stores want it that way. In my experience, there are only three ways of getting really good deals on mattresses: a) if you happen to like one of the models that Costco has at its warehouse; b) from a store that sells cosmetic seconds (mismatched fabrics and the like) (you keep a sheet on it after all) and c) often, at Sears (of all places) I've gotten very good deals on last year's models (no particular time of year).

I'm looking to buy a mattress as well. I've looked at Costco but don't know if the prices are good enough to buy or I should wait until a sale.

How are these prices comparing to the in store prices of places such as Costco and Sears?

I just looked on the macy's website, yes they're cheap. But it's only for the Macybed and Serta brand? And all of them I have to purchase as a set (including boxspring) which I don't need.

Is this everyday price at local stores or are these deals any good?

They are low end as far as I could tell when I checked in the store a few days back.

I've done a lot of research, and these are good deals. For example, the $699 Simmons Beautyrest Recharge World Class Phillipsburg Luxury Firm Mattress is comparable to these 2 $1,699.99 mattresses from Sleepys and 1800mattress.com (makes sense, as they're the same company):

http://www.sleepys.com/en/Beautyr...ss_124301/
http://www.1800mattress.com/en/Be...ss_125001/

Moreover, the Phillipsburg is a 1,000 coil count, which is a even a big step up on the highly-touted W Hotel bed (825 coil count, and is a white-labeled Simmons Beautyrest that they make specifically for W Hotels). The W bed is most comparable (well, slight step up from) to the 800-coil the Simmons Beautyrest Recharge Kenosha Place Plush, which is going for $449 in this sale. By comparison, the comparable Sleepys doorbuster mattress is going for $899: http://www.sleepys.com/en/Simmons...ss_103554/. Their $499 doorbuster is 1 grade below: http://www.sleepys.com/en/Simmons...ss_103551/

Yes, the whole different-brands thing is pretty scheisty on the part of the mattress industry. Compare the inner components (coil count, coil gauge, and quilt & padding components).

Also pretty sure USM is paying SD for this promo, as the exact same $699 mattress in their "normal" Black Friday sale is still going for $799 as of yesterday. Check out the different display banners above the price points, and the near-identical specs and URLs:

(SD) http://www.us-mattress.com/wc-phi...queen.html
("normal") http://www.us-mattress.com/simmon...queen.html

(note all prices are Queen)
