I just found out from my Geico rep that Geico members even without rental coverage can rent a car from Enterprise for $20-25/day, which is about 50% off their published rate.
I called my local Enterprise and for $22/day I can have a chevy cobalt or a similar size car (online the best deal with all known coupons was $34.84!) And they will pick me up! Considering that my car will be in a shop for 7-10 days, this is cheaper than calling a cab every time I need to go somewhere. It would probably cost me $30 just to get to Enterprise location in a taxi had they not offered to pick me up! So all in all a great deal! Hope it helps someone else.
Note, the Geico discount applies any day of the week and according to Geico would apply even if your car was not in a collision or under repair.

Weekends are usually 1/2 off, meaning a compact car (like you listed) from Friday 10am until Monday 10am is about $52.
Not in NY - Queens and L/I - in July they wanted almost 500.00 Lets just say I used mass trans mostly and fam and friends - just gave them gas money. Nice find op - hope it works well for as many as it can.
This is a HUGE ymmv. The only time it would ever work is when your car is involved in an accident(and they may require you being at one of the shops they service), and not for regular rentals. You are also put on calander day billing instead of 24-hour billing which for a shorter rental easily can kill he deal. That means if you pick the car up at the end of the day friday and return monday morning you would be charged for 4 days and not 3.
For a Geico special rate you probably need to call Enterprise as I could not get it cheap online either. Once I called the agent checked with the manager and gave me the discount. The rate quoted was not for a weekend either, it was for a wednesday-thursday.
And no, they did not ask me a single question about where my car is being repaired. All I told them is that Geico told me they have contracts with enterprise to provide discounted rentals, and that it would be $20-25/day.
All they asked is my geico policy number.
The Geico agent also told me I could use it for accident rentals or leisure, that their contracts cover all Geico members and they actually get better rates the more people use it.

every insurance company has cheaper rates with rentals. it is a YMMV on whether they ask you if your car is in the shop. The thing to do is get State Farm and have your agent call and set it up. Enterprise is always trying to earn our business and we can leverage that for you!
I used to work for them...the cheapest deal is to go in on a saturday just before they close...they primarily cater to dealerships and the insurance market so sit heavy on a weekend and need to rent out as many cars as possible...so if you go right before they close, you can usually work out a great deal as the car would end up just sitting there anyways!!
if you reserve the smallest car...ask for an upgrade and again do not be afraid to deal
www.carrentals.com have the same prices and sometimes even cheaper than you can find anywhere else. Their prices are usually the cheapest if you wait until a day or two before you actually want to rent the car too.
The deal is ymmv, that is all I am saying. They can ask for a claim number and a printout if they don't want to give you that price. If they have a ton of cars, they may take any deal they can to get a car on the road. It also depends how aggresive the manager is. While that link to "confessions" was by somewho who really didn't understand the business, it's true rates vary HUGELY especially by day and time and how many cars are o nthe lot.
IF your car is in the shop Enterprise will give you the default insurance rates. If you are just renting for personal, being with Geico means nothing. Don't be so quick to listen to your Geico rep, they really don't know that much about Enterprise. And weekends are 50% off UP TO a full size car, but you must rent from Friday until Monday.
ninepoundhammer your right. I have gotten enterprise to give me shop rates at 17.99 a day in san francisco and had them pick me up also. If your car is in the shop or you know someone that works for a shop, it can get set up.
