SlickDeals API

Is there a publicly available developer API?

If, for instance, I wanted to roll my own push notifications to my phone I was just wondering if there was actually an API in place to implement this easily. If not, are there plans for one? I can see how it would be useful for browser extension developers in particular.

Nope

To be honest, its not really developer friendly anyways. There is a lot of stuff we learned in the past 2.5 years that we'll be applying to the next version of the API that would make it a lot better and easier to use. The other big thing that's a lot of work is documentation. Good documentation isn't easy and takes a lot of work.

If we were to put out a public API, we'll do everything we can to get people to use it. Releasing a half-baked product doesn't instill confidence in the developer community to develop on your platform.

Great! I was just thinking about using a push notifications platform (like PushOver) and some locally-hosted scripts in combo with the API to maybe push new PMs and reply notifications (if that would be included in it) to my phone or other devices.

I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with if you decide to pursue that avenue!

I don't mean to hijack this thread, however what's the data usage policy on SD? I mean, If I want to scrape the site to create my own api/rss feed, can I do that?
