The seasoning blend and especially the pecan smoke in Jacob's Andouille places it in a league all by itself. That, and the large diameter of their sausage makes for a helluva snack along with cheese, crackers, and beer. Surprisingly, some locally-produced sausage from my supermarket's meat counter is quite nice. I hope you find your local butcher's product to be really good, too. If it's not, ask him to try this recipe [nolacuisine.com] and see what he thinks.

They've taken the #1 slot in national competitions with it a few times (granted, in places like TN and SC) so that's a good sign. I do still have quite a selection of cheese left, too...

FYI, slicing the andouille and cutting the slices into quarters, then cooking it into steaming rice with chopped green onions, pecan pieces/chips, and a teaspoon (or more) of curry powder is quite tasty.

I clipped a coupon out of the paper that got me a variable amount of fuel saver points if I bought x amount of wine and/or cheese, and PG and I had already discussed getting her parents a cheese selection as a gift. They had a bunch of small cheese bits so I grabbed a variety (some goudas, parrano, gran queso, different cheddars...)
I was disappointed with the hatch chile cheddar, it was not remotely spicy. I was hoping for something more like a hot pepperjack.
